Vacations are a much needed avenue to relieve stress for most of us. But when they end, we keep dreaming of being back in that spot making memories, having fun and wishing that we could somehow share our enjoyment with

other family members and friends. Dan Flowers, owner of Outdoor Systems, is in the business of helping you create areas that do that very thing.

“The one thing I hear from customers is: ‘We want a space that we can use for enter-taining our family and friends - a place we can really enjoy now and throughout the year,’” Flowers said.

“We like to emphasize the whole family outdoor experience by helping the client cre-ate a suitable atmosphere,” he said. “We provide professional design and installation of all phases of outdoor construction: one contact, one phone number.”

Flowers believes his role is not only as the contractor, but as a consultant who has the knowledge to oversee the project while focusing on the details that are sometimes missed by other contractors. “We do almost all of our work in house,” Flowers said. “While we do what we know, we are not too proud to call in an expert from time to time as needed.”

Outdoor Systems started out as a landscaping company primarily building patios, walls, waterfalls, irrigation and lighting systems. “Over time, we have hired the right employees to help grow the business in other areas like our signature fireplaces, swimming pools, and outdoor structures/light construction,” he said. “We have never been the lawn care company that is easily associated with landscaping. Right from the start my focus was on building projects and creating something from nothing or adding to what someone else had started.”

Attention to detail is a key attribute of the work completed by Outdoor Systems: “This is big on my list,” Flowers said. “We take on a lot of projects that others can’t or don’t know how to do. One of our recent projects involved lifting six 5,000 pound structural concrete slabs over a customer’s house. The customer did ask if he could move his Lexus out of the garage before we started, just in case one would have gotten away

from us. All were placed without a hitch or scratch on the car!” (A short video of the project is on the web site www.outdoorsystemsinc.com).

In addition, Flowers has a diverse background in the electrical and construction industry. “I believe one of my biggest assets is that within five minutes of viewing a site I can picture the finished project - I am an ideas guy,” he said. “I see things that some people can’t visualize. We take those ideas and put them on paper or on video as a 3D walk through of your space. The bottom line is we help build your dreams!”

Cover Photo ProjectThe gorgeous scene on the front cover and on this page is of a residence in Swansea. “This couple wanted a place to entertain their family and friends that included a shade structure among other amenities. We started off by positioning a pavilion in an area that would provide shade not only under the structure, but also an uncovered area next to the structure by acting like a big shade,” Flowers said. “This scenario - like most of our projects - is a good example of how we find simple, practical ways to blend architecture and aesthetics in an outdoor space, and still achieve the goals of the customer. The pavilion has ceiling fans; can lights and recessed rope lights to accent the cedar bead board ceiling; low profile heaters mounted on the ceiling for those cool evenings; stone columns; a ‘man cave’ dream of a U-shaped bar with stainless steel locking cabinets; and a grill center located just off the back side that features a stainless steel built in grill and Green Egg ceramic smoker. If that’s not enough…a flat screen TV and outdoor speakers make this the place to be!”

Outdoor Systems, Inc. offers warranties on their work and is available for projects anywhere in the Metro East and St. Louis. Other extended regions include Lake of the Ozarks. Please call Dan Fllowers at (618) 281-8270 or visit www.outdoorsystemsinc.com.

It's becoming well known by now that concrete has become a material that homeowners and designers are requesting, and utilizing in their homes, offices, retail outlets, restaurants, etc., in the most amazing

ways. But leading the charge in this trend are concrete countertops.

The real advantage with these counters is that they make possible one-of-a-kind custom designs. Concrete counters are popular now, yet they have been out long enough to amend early problems.

“Remember back to the first time you heard the term ‘concrete coun-tertop?’ You probably imagined your 20-year-old driveway in all its oil-stained glory sitting atop your cabinets,” said Keith Griffith, owner of Bricks and Stones Creative Concrete Professionals. “But we are able to create veins that look completely natural and combine them with inno-vative sculpted edges that are just not seen anywhere else.”

Methods of design and installation vary among contractors, but gener-ally countertops are either pre-cast in a shop or formed on site. For those who pre-cast, the advantage is to pour in the shop where condi-tions are controlled using special casting tables. Also, the countertop is obviously in their possession while it is curing and until it can be adequately sealed.

Contractors who build countertops on site like to do so because they can form the countertop to any client’s particular need: radius edges, curved corners, etc. Concrete offers the opportunity to be completely custom utilizing any kind of design that comes to mind.

Part of the uniqueness of concrete countertops is that they can be any color. With integral pigments, acid stains and dyes, the color possibilities are endless. Homeowners love the versatility of concrete and the ability to coordinate with their décor whatever it may be: apple green, cran-berry red, slate blue, etc. Any color can be matched with little difficulty.

Concrete could be the right choice for your home if:• You want something unique and personalized• You want something that looks natural and has character• You appreciate high-quality, hand-crafted items• Granite is too shiny, too formal, too common• Synthetic solid surface materials look and feel like plastic• You need a color or visual texture that's not available with other countertop materials

Polished ConcreteIncreasingly popular within commercial and residential facilities is polished concrete: a process that enhances the natural beauty of exist-ing concrete by hardening and polishing the concrete. The benefits of natural concrete are durability and aesthetic value. Polishing results in a smooth, sealed appearance.

For more information about concrete countertops or polished concrete, you may call Bricks and Stones at (618) 363-0829 and visit www.creativeconcretepros.com.

Robin and Larry McQueen, owners of Carpet Care Plus, continue to find the best possible solutions for the repairing and cleaning of area rugs whether it’s with unique equipment, above-and-beyond services or good old-fashioned know-how. Recently, they both

traveled to Los Angeles to learn from one of the most well-known experts in the industry for rug identification, repair and cleaning: Dr. Khosrow Sobhe, a certified rug specialist and second generation Persian rug specialist.

“Every rug tells you a story: where it was made, how it was made and what it is made from. Having this knowledge helps in identifying the proper repair and cleaning procedures needed to care for that particular rug,” said Larry McQueen.

“Area rugs are essentially floor art, that when properly cared for and maintained will retain their value and over time can increase in value,” said Robin McQueen. “Knowing the origin and make of a rug is not in the repertoire of most carpet cleaners which can lead to damage. In addition, rugs shouldn’t be cleaned in a home.”

Carpet Care Plus has a full rug-plant setting with proper machines on site making it possible to dust the rug, thoroughly clean the rug and insure it is properly dried and groomed.

“I am a certified Wool Care Specialist by the Restoration Industry Association (RIA) and a member of the Association of Area Rug Care Specialist (ARCS), the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC) and Carpet and Rug Cleaners Institute of IL (CRCII),” said Larry McQueen. Understanding make-up and knowledge of the proper cleaning techniques are essential to achieving the best possible cleaning solution for any rug.

Repair work is the newest service added at Carpet Care Plus. Preserving and extending the life of a rug allows them to be passed on to the next generation. “We can serge, bind, replace fringe and even secure fringe on handmade rugs to stop any further damage,” Robin McQueen said. By repairing the rug, the appearance is maintained thus saving people from

spending money on a new rug or losing a sentimental heirloom. Carpet Care also offers moth protection, spill protectant, cat scratch repair and rug padding.

The rug seminar in Los Angeles honed the McQueens’ skills in the area of identification and repair, and to build their network of professional rug cleaners that expand the entire globe.

“Larry and I now have the ability to repair holes in the middle of handmade rugs and save that rug which in many cases was a one-of-a-kind piece that would have been lost forever,” said McQueen. They also offer an appraisal service.

An appraisal determines the value of the rug and provides the client a written certificate that includes type of rug, age and value. This documentation can be used to replace its value if you were to lose this piece of art to a fire, theft or any other loss.

“It’s so much fun to hear how our clients obtained their rugs and the stories that go with rewarding. Area rugs have been around for centuries and all civilizations either made rugs or received them in trade, so really, this is more of a passion than just another part of the business. Countless hours of research has increased our knowledge to meet and exceed customers’ expectations.”

Carpet Care Plus is located in O’Fallon at 121 Behrens Dr. Suite 1 for area rug drop off. Pick-up and delivery is also available. Call (618) 632-0883 to schedule an appointment or for a free estimate. visit their website at www.carpetcareplus1.com. Other services offered are commercial and residential carpet cleaning, furniture cleaning and vehicle upholstery. Ask us, we may just be able to clean it.

You have wanted to put the final touch on your home’s décor and tie it all together with coordinating window treatments, but you aren’t sure that you can justify the expense. Consider then, that the properly designed window treatment can not only add beauty and style to your home but also work to significantly reduce your home maintenance costs over time. A well-engineered plan to dress your windows in the right shutters, silks, sheers or shades will increase your home’s energy efficiency throughout the year and protect your furniture and flooring investments from the permanent damage caused by direct sunlight.

With approximately 44 percent of your utility bill attributed to heating and cooling, energy-efficient window treatments can translate into measurable year-round savings. Many energy experts recommend adding more efficient window coverings rather than going to the expense of replacing the windows. Use of window treatments to control drafts and heat loss dates back hundreds of years to those heavy velvet puddled draperies found in the castles of Europe. Your local window treatment professional can introduce you to the most energy-efficient products available today.

A product’s R-Value is a measurement of its ability to keep heat in and cold out. The higher the R-Value, the better that product is at retaining indoor warmth. A phenomenal product designed to increase R-Value is the Hunter Douglas Architella® cellular shade. This product features an innovative twist that provides more depth of color at the window and an R-Value of 4.5 in addition to your current window system. Incredibly, this figure is more than 7-times greater than the R-Value provided by a common 2-inch faux wood blind making it a better choice for long-term energy savings. Another elegant and time-tested solution for the reduction of heat loss at the window is the selec-tion of classic shutter systems which offer an average R-Value of 2.5 and provide you with multiple levels of privacy and light control.

A product’s Summer U-Value is a measurement of its ability to reflect heat. For example, a window treatment that reduces incoming heat by 70 percent, has a summer U-Value of

.30. The lower the U-Value, the more effective it is in reflecting heat away from your home. To reduce heat gain, select a low U-Value treatment with white- or light-colored backing and install it an inch or two from the glass to create an air pocket. Non-reflected heat that builds up in the pocket during the day will dissipate through the glass at night when the temperature outside cools. Not surprisingly, you will find that shutters and cellular shades can provide the low U-Values you need to lower your electric bill.

Put your window treatments to work saving you money by employing them in the busi-ness of ultra-violet control and asset protection. Ultraviolet light entering your home as sunlight will quickly fade, weaken and destroy your furniture, flooring, upholstery and

artwork. Sheers are multi-talented in that they can reduce this incoming ultra-violet light by 65 percent or more while reducing glare, preserving outdoor

visibility, adding beauty, and providing you with daytime privacy.

Hunter Douglas has revolutionized the use of sheers by integrating them into beautiful horizontal and vertical products such as the versatile cord-less Duolite® shade and the popular Silhouette® and Luminette® shades

designed to block 88 percent of incoming UV rays.

If you would like to justify the expense of luxurious custom window treat-ments in your home, work with an experienced window treatment professional

to select hard-working window treatments that can meet all of your design require-ments. You shouldn’t be afraid to invest in window treatments that look magnificent in your home if they are designed to reduce your home maintenance costs.

Memorial Hospital is pleased to offer a Heart Failure Clinic through physician referral for heart failure patients. The clinic is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Heart failure is the inability of the heart muscle to keep up with the demands of the body,” said Melinda Crain, MSN, APN, ACNP-BC, a certified acute care nurse practitioner. “A variety of conditions can cause the heart to become too stiff or weak to pump well.” Crain leads the clinic and works closely with patient’s physicians to provide a heart failure management plan.

Heart failure is a disease that affects over 6 million people in the United States. While most of the conditions that cause heart failure are not reversible, they can be treated with good results.

The main focus of the Heart Failure Clinic is the use of education and monitoring to assist patients in managing their disease and leading a full life. The clinic is an adjunct to physi-cian follow-up and visits. The Heart Failure Team includes physicians, a nurse practitioner, pharmacist, dietitian, social worker and nurses who will develop an individualized treat-ment plan for every patient. The main education focus of the team will be on lifestyle changes, low sodium diet instruction, medication management, identifying depression and improving quality of life. In addition, the team will educate the patient on how to make good health choices including controlling blood pressure, watching cholesterol, saying no to tobacco and drugs and regular exercise. Family members and significant oth-ers are encouraged to participate with the patients in learning more about heart failure and management.

The Heart Failure Clinic is located in Medical Office Center – One, Suite 100. For more information about Memorial Hospital’s Heart Failure Clinic, call (618) 257-4696.

Now you can add the wildly popular HydraFacial to the already long list of health and beauty treatments at Emerald Isle Health and Beauty Day Spa. The HydraFa-

cial is the newest advance in non-laser skin resurfacing and is making headlines across the country.

“This facial treatment gives patients the results they’ve al-ways wanted with skin that’s glowing and most importantly, skin that’s healthy,” said Emerald Isle owner Rita Sax. “We love providing such a widely requested and effective treat-ment to our clients because of the instant results they receive in just 30 minutes. With regular maintenance, the skin will only get better and better."

“The HydraFacial combines spa therapies with medical tech-nology to cleanse, exfoliate, extract, hydrate, and nourish the skin,” Sax said. “The specially formulated skin solutions pro-vide your skin with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid which are the two superpowers of skin health."

In fact, Hollywood loves the HydraFacial. Celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Matthew McConaughey, Evan Rachel Wood, Kate Winslet, and Amy Poehler use the HydraFacial, and now Marie Osmond of “Donnie and Marie” can be added to the list. In a recent interview with Prevention Magazine, Marie was asked to share her skin secrets, and she said; “I’ve had a HydraFacial, which is a non-laser skin resurfacing. I had a second procedure, which was done with infrared light; it tightens the skin and stimulates collagen to make your face look more toned.”

“Instant results will leave the skin looking radiant and refined with no downtime,” Sax said. “Regular maintenance is ideal, but it’s also perfect before a night out or special occasion."

Feeling Great Naturally!Detach. Lose Weight. Age Gracefully. Stress Less. Easier said than done, right?! It is important to understand how much weight, stress, aging and hormones affect your life. While these are naturally occurring issues, the negative effects such as anxiety, depression and fatigue don’t deserve a regular place in your daily life. There are simple, yet effective, treatments like Chiropractic Care, Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy, and aesthetic procedures that will make a huge difference in the way you look AND feel. Many people recognize Chiropractic Care as quick relief for back and neck pain associ-ated with injuries. However, it also encom-passes holistic treatments such as acupuncture and auriculotherapy. These therapies provide an alternative to prescription drugs and are helpful for treating a variety of conditions, including hot flashes, irritable bowel, and cravings (for sweet or salty foods). Chiropractic Care also helps your body function efficiently by reducing inflammation and pain, while increasing overall mobility.

When your body seems more out of balance than usual, you can’t ignore how you feel, especially when it is hormonal imbalances. By utilizing BioIdentical Hormone Therapy, otherwise known as natural hormone therapy, pre- and post-menopausal issues can be stabilized. Hormone imbalance contributes to adrenal dysfunction causing fatigue, insomnia, depression, anxiety, low libido, and weight gain. However, by balancing your hormones these issues can be naturally resolved. “We take a comprehensive approach when evaluating a patient for hormone imbalance,” said Dr. Jacobs, Medical Director and owner of Ooh La La Spa, Anti-Aging and Wellness Center. “We understand overall health and wellness is essential to looking good and feeling even better!”

Remember that stress also manifests itself in skin conditions including acne, rashes, fine lines and wrinkles, just to name a few. Combining thera-pies to combat internal and external stress symptoms is an excellent path to choose. After all, when you look great, you feel fantastic! Treatments such as Botox, Laser Skin Rejuvenation and Chemical Peels are non-invasive anti-aging treatments. On the other hand, facials and massage are ideal for calming your mind and nerves. Book a much needed treatment for yourself, whether it is for relaxation, anti-aging or both. You deserve it!

Until There's A Cure ...There’s Cleaning For A Reason®

Fighting cancer is difficult enough, but living with it is even tougher and that's where Cleaning For A Reason, founded in Dallas, Texas, steps in. As a nonprofit serving the entire United States and Canada, Cleaning For A Reason partners with maid services to offer professional house cleanings to help women un-dergoing treatment for cancer, any type of cancer. To date, the organization has helped more than 11,000 women with cancer with almost $3 million in donated cleanings. When a woman is in the midst of cancer treatment, she can receive the gift of a clean home for free. While there are hundreds of cleaning services around the

country who donate their time, there is only one in the Metro East – NuKastle Cleaning. “Rarely would a business in its first six months of existence offer free services - we need every dollar we can get,” said NuKastle owner Bill Blair. “Yet this one touched home for me. My wife's sister is a breast cancer survivor. My maternal grandparents and my uncle (only 46) all lost their battles to cancer. To me and my wife, being part of this great organization was a simple decision to make. It was about doing the right thing.” To apply for this amazing service, visit www.cleaning-forareason.org and go to the “apply” button. Studio Offers Cancer Patients Products “For Life”

Hearing a diagnosis of breast cancer isn’t something we can imagine unless we have personally been touched by the disease ourselves. Fortunately, there is a lot of help in the Metro East community

to get people through their challenging journey.

Cancer patients have found Merle Norman in Fairview Heights to be a sweet refuge where simple things like wigs, turbans, sleep caps, makeup, eyebrows, eyelashes and skin care products can mean a difference in how they feel about themselves.

Offering a large selection of high-quality wigs in every color, some with highlights, lowlights – you name it – it’s easy to find one that makes a person feel better about their appearance during such a traumatic time.

Some people want to find one that is very similar to their natural color and style; others want a complete change.

“If the wig is bought in the studio, I can tweak, cut or trim it to make it perfect for the customer,” said owner Sabrina Fudge.

Knowing that those going through chemo-therapy must use natural products with no

fragrances, the studio offers special products that have a very necessary, delicate balance for the skin.

“Our products can help relieve and soothe skin that is irritated by chemotherapy or radiation,” Fudge said. The skin changes for just a year or so – the texture is drier, the color more ashy and sometimes dark circles under the eyes appear. “Merle Norman can take care of all these annoyances.”

Of course Merle Norman has hydrating facials and masks to lend moisture to the skin as well as moisturizing foundations and other

makeup products. Customers are also encouraged to come in once a month for a free facial and consultation.

Unfortunately, Hurricane Isaac reared its ugly head just when Midwest WingFest 2012 was set to kick off on Friday, August 31 and continued

through most of the weekend. While organizers were very disappointed, they have already rescheduled and have their sponsors back on board. A portion of the proceeds from the festival were to be donated to Dis-abled American Veterans.

In particular, online donations - still being taken and encouraged - are being raised to help O’Fallon home-

town hero Lance Corporal Chris Van Etten who lost his legs trying to save a fallen soldier. Van Etten was born into a military family in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and lived in various states and countries while grow-ing up. He moved to O'Fallon in 2003 and graduated from O'Fallon Township High School before joining the Marine Corps on July 13, 2009. He then completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Van Etten graduated from infantry training and was assigned to 1st Battalion 7th Marines, 29 Palms,

California. From there he deployed once to Asia and once to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

On June 13, 2012, while on an early morning foot patrol in Sangin, Afghanistan, he was wounded by an IED when attempting to save a fellow squad member injured in an explosion moments before. He was medevaced to Naval Medical Center San Diego where he is now part of the Wounded Warrior Battalion.

Please visit www.midwestwingfest.com and consider donating to help with medical expenses for Lance Corporal van Etten and share this information so others can do the same.

From STRUGGLING...1 out of 4 children struggle with reading and learning because of

undiagnosed vision problems.

Does Your Child...

...to SUCCESS!ELIMINATE DOUBT!

If your child has any of the above symptoms, he or she may have a 100% correctable vision-based learning problem. Children

who once struggled go from failure to success when these vision problems are treated. Call us today to schedule a Developmental Vision Evaluation.

Unger Eye Care

(618) 667-2020www.readingandvision.com

Whether your child works very hard but still gets a poor re-port card, or your child avoids

reading and homework as much as pos-sible, we may be able to help.

When a child complains that he can’t see the board your immediate thought is to schedule an eye exam. But when your child brings home a poor report card, you should also consider that a sign to schedule an eye exam.

Why an eye exam? When a child con-sistently struggles with reading and nothing seems to help it could be a sign that a vision problem is underlying your child’s difficulties. Does your child love being read to, but hates to read? Is he or she an “auditory learner?” These are signs of a vision problem.

The Learning Disabilities Association of America says that when you find a child who is struggling with learning you should check for vision and hearing problems. Unfortunately, most people incorrectly assume there is nothing wrong with a child’s vision if he or she can see “20/20.”

Dr. Tom Unger, an optometrist in Troy, said, “If you have a child who is strug-gling with reading and schoolwork, it is vital you understand that being able to see the letters on the eye chart is just one of over 20 visual skills critical to reading and learning.”

Children do not know how they are sup-posed to see so they rarely complain when they have difficulty seeing the words on the page. Therefore it becomes

critical that you are aware of some of the most obvious symptoms which indicate that a child could have a vision problem, including:

• Problems with tracking• Poor comprehension and attention

span• Loses place while reading• Points to words while reading• Avoids close work such as reading• Reverses letters or words in reading

and writing• Homework takes FOREVER when it

shouldn’t

If your child has any of these symp-toms, he or she may have an undiag-nosed vision problem that is interfer-ing with academic success. For more information, visit: www.ungereyecare.com or call 618-667-2020.

29th Annual

Marketplace Magazine | Fall Issue 2012 | marketplacemagazineonline.com | 33

For 36 years now, Don Rodgers Ltd. has been an anchor in the West End of Belleville not only as a successful retail business but as a champion for the community. Always “in-the-know,” owner Roger Wigginton has made it a

life-long mission to be involved in making the West End a wonderful place to live, work and shop.Visitors ock to the charming store from as far away as the Illinois communities of Springeld, Alton, Christopher and Prairie du Rocher; or from St. Charles and St. Peters, South and West Counties, and Fenton in Missouri. “Really, we are the last fashion boutique in the area that oers men’s and women’s merchandise,” Wigginton said. “The things we carry here will never be found in a shopping mall. Consequently, our customers love that uniqueness and the very competitive prices. I keep my overhead down and pass that savings on to you.” Originally, Don Rodgers Ltd. was the collaboration of Roger Wigginton and busi-ness partner, Don Napoli. “So we took his rst name and my rst name – added a ‘d’ to look like a proper name – and opened our doors oering women’s only clothing in 1976. Just two years later we added menswear.”

The rst store was in the Arcades at 6500 West Main for 18 years before moving across the street to its present location – for another 18 years. Wigginton bought his friend’s share of the company in 1984 making him the sole proprietor at that time.

Studying the trends daily, he and his long-time buyer, Linda Watson, could see that fashion designers were no longer showing as many dresses as in the past. Seeing an opportunity, they wisely created a niche in dressy separates perfect for special occasions such as weddings, cruises and nights on the town.

“We oer matching solid slacks, skirts and shells in every color and then we com-bine a fabulous blouse or jacket to make an amazing outt,” Wigginton said. Then all you need is a dierent colorful blouse or jacket and voila… a new outt! And by the way, most of their merchandise is made in America or Canada, and come in easy-care, wrinkle-free fabrics most of which can be washed.

Known as the “jacket capital of the Midwest,” shoppers can choose from tons of dierent styles to wear with a dressy pant or skirt, or even jeans. Don’t wait too long when the new season’s items are placed on the shelves – they will likely be gone by the end of the week.

A couple of Don Rodgers’ Canadian lines have quite the following because of their great ts and comfy fabrics. In fact, there is a ne-wale corduroy pant by Tribal that Wigginton has sold 1,000 pairs of in the last three years alone. Yes – that’s 1,000 with three zeroes. “Every year I have ordered this particular pant in four dierent colors and every year some women come in and by all four colors – now they have 12 pairs in 12 dierent colors!!”

Of course, every Don Rodgers' fan loves the “best-tting” French Dressing Jeans in denim (only $79) or black ($89) that sit at the waist in regular and petite sizes. “I think these are the only jeans Carol Daniel wears,” he laughed. Daniel has been Don Rodgers’ celebrity spokeswoman on KMOX for years now using her famous line – Is That A Don Rodgers? - and happens to be one of his best customers.

The men’s department is equally as impressive with such sophisticated brands as Cutter and Buck, Austin Reed, Forsyth of Canada and Tailor Byrd. Here customers can nd suits, sport coats, dress shirts, golf shirts, sweaters, trousers, casual pants and jeans. And there are two seam-stresses for alterations on sta A couple of fun fashion trends for men this fall is the long-sleeve woven shirt with contrasting fabric on the inside of the cus and collars. “This shirt is great with jeans or casual pants,” Wigginton said. New pullover sweaters and vests this season fea-ture zippers rather than a crew or v-neck.

“The way people dress now is more casual even in the workplace. Layering a T-shirt under a sweater

or shirt is popular, too,” he said. “Fall is a fun time of the year around here. I’m getting new merchandise every day – the UPS man doesn’t ever pass us by.”

Making the West End his home, Wigginton and his wife raised three children who went to Blessed Sacrament and Altho – two live in the area and one in Chicago – and he has two grandchildren with one on the way.

Even though he still works six days a week at Don Rodgers, he nds the time to be involved in the city and is the co-chairperson of the West Belleville Promo-tional Committee which falls under the Belleville Chamber umbrella.

“I really enjoy what I’m doing right now,” he said, “and as long as I have my health, I’ll keep doing it!”

Puts Belleville On the Map!
