On January 27, 2020, Fair Fares NYC opens for applications. New York City residents at or below the Federal Poverty Level may qualify for a half-priced transit fare using a Fair Fares MetroCard.

The Fair Fares NYC MetroCard works on NYC subways and eligible buses. You can add time or value just like a regular MetroCard—but you get half-off fares!

live in New York City

are not receiving or eligible for a discounted MetroCard from another program
