Daily Class Needs - Whole Group Work

Facilitator-led instruction (Refer to page 39 in FacilitatorHandbook):

• Objectives:• Review what students should be able to say/do in Spanish after

this unit.• Pronunciation:

• Start every class with that day’s Pronunciation and Speaking Labs activities. Use smartboard/projector and speakers to have whole class listen to the native speakers pronounce and then repeat together as a class. Students should also record themselves and listen to the recordings immediately.

• Grammar Introduction:• This is usually on Day 2 and for Spanish 1 and 2 and Day 4 for

Spanish 1A and 1B.• Have students read the grammar sheet aloud after watching

the grammar video lesson. WV Virtual School Training for On-Site Facilitators 2014

Facilitating Assessments

Quizzes and Tests:

• Students must start teacher graded assesments at the same time under your supervision: Reflection Assessments, Unit Tests, Speaking, and Writing Tests.

• Pacing can be flexible for other autogradedassessments (pop quiz, cultural tidbit, listening and reading comprehension, etc.)

• Restrictions on all unit tests prevent students from taking Unit Test and Unit Speaking or Writing test if they have not finished all the quizzes for that unit first.

• There will be a 2-hour window on ALL graded assessments. The students should not open any test unless they are sure they will have class time to finish it. The test will auto-submit after 2 hours and the student will not be able to come back to it later.

Monitoring Student Progress

• Check the grade book every week:• Confer with your WVVS teacher for a designated day• Allow time to go over feedback with students• Help students identify and complete missing or unsubmitted work

• Zeros- Spanish teachers will put a temporary zero if work is not completed by the end of the unit. The zero becomes permanent, with no chance for make-up after two units.

• Change Grade Display to view specific units

WV Virtual School Training for On-Site Facilitators 2014

Page 22: Facilitator training 2014

Monitoring Student Progress•Check Missing Work in Grades by going to grades tab.

• Check this weekly & especially after quizzes

•Students will be responsible for tracking their own Missing Work

•Grades are cumulative and based on points. • Categories are no longer weighted.

•Notify phone teacher when student has a prolonged absence

E-mail - Students and facilitators check e-mail daily and throughout class using: http://access.k12.wv.us:1081 or http://portal.microsoftonline.com/ New Emails are the same user name as before just without the word

“Access”. We depend on e-mail to communicate with students. Even though

they will not have an e-mail from us most days, we need to know that when they do have an e-mail from us they will read it.

Encourage students to copy the facilitator on important e-mails. Included a subject line with:

School, Name, Level, and subject of message ¡quiquiriqui!

Communication: Email
