What is The Definition of an extreme Natural Event?

• A natural disaster is when the earth's creats hazards. These are like floods, tornados, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, heatwaves and landslide. They can lead to financial, environmental or human losses. If these disasters continue it would be a great danger for the earth. This understanding is concentrated in the formula: "disasters occur when hazards meet vulnerability."

When Does an Event become a Hazard?

• A natural event becomes a hazard when it threatens humans and the built environment. Natural events like earthquakes can become a hazard when builds are destroyed or when people can be potentially injured.

What makes a place vulnerable to extreme Natural Events

• A place can be vulnerable to earth quakes because they could be between two tectonic plates. These plates are moving and can cause earth quakes. Countries that are quite flat con be flooded easily as torrential rain may not be able to drain off as quickly as it came.
