“There is no such thing as perfection in art; art is what you make it out to be, even if it’s far from being

perfect.”

The Color Yellow, the color of my childhood,

The color of my walls, The color of my bed,

And of course, The color of my food.

Why is it that

I am always surrounded by this ugly color Of brightness that never

Brightens my day? A color, that appears uncomplimentary

And as well as vile to look at? Why is it

That the color yellow is normally associated with the fruit banana?

I enjoy bananas, But I don’t like to associate them with

Such a hideous color. The color yellow

changes my mood from happy to sad,

no matter what. Yellow is not a color; it is a disgrace to the world.

Photograph of Memories I woke this morning With abjection and heartache Overcoming my body, Like a pile of dumbbells Sitting on top of my scrawny limp body. Its been weeks Since I last laughed And even smiled. Its been weeks Since I felt the true desire To get up and move around. I lost my best friend. The one that was there For my good And bad days. The one that truly Made me laugh And sometimes Very angry. On the side of my bed, Rests a picture frame Faced down And about to fall off. I never noticed it, But I moved My aching body And flipped it over. It was a photo Of my best friend and I Truly laughing like a bunch of kids. My heart filled with joy, As a I shed a tear And gave a hint of a smile.

Our memories of happiness And good times Will never leave my thoughts And will uplift me from this time Of pain. You will always be My true Best Friend.

The Mirror I am the one That doesn’t believe In those horrifying ghost stories, That leaves many of my friends Scared to go outside, Be in the dark, And even look in the bathroom mirror Those stories That seem to be intimidating, Leaves me laughing And for some reason, Curious. Bloody Mary. The story that requires Standing in front of a mirror, Chanting her name To only see her pale face of terror. I light my candle, Turn off the lights and Chant her name while reeling in the darkness. I stop. Standing and staring At a mirror that reflects nothing But myself and a dim candle. Without hesitation, I laugh and began to make way to turn on the lights, when I notice something odd in the mirror.

The left corner began to fog up Like a hot shower has been running. Without a doubt, I walk closer to the enormous mirror; My adrenaline began to rise As I notice a pair of red eyes Staring back at me.

Milano Inn Lasagna, The classic Italian dish That warms up my stomach And fills me with joy Fettuccine Alfredo, Creamy and full of richness, Sticks to any pasta And never gets to old. Tortellini, Pasta that’s filled with cheese, And is soft to the touch. Its like Christmas in my mouth, Without the unwrapping. Without a doubt, There are places everywhere That cook food fast and well, But there is only one place That can perfect the true meaning of amazing Italian food. Its warm and cozy, Like laying by the fire on a cold, Winter night. It has a sense of family, Which makes your visit feel like thanksgiving. No matter what, Milano Inn may be small And out of the way, It will always be my favorite Restaurant.

High in the Sky Hands in, Feet down, Buckle up, And enjoy the ride. Up the lift hill we go, With my best friend Holding my hand And my eyes shut closed. I hear the sound of the chain, Like a large clock ticking in a quiet room. I could feel my weight fall back Against the leather seat, Like lying in a reclining chair. I could taste the fear in the air, Like the humidity on a hot, Summer day. The smell of the sweat, Coming from my underarms. Is overwhelming, Like walking into a bathroom With dirty cat litter. There is no turning back now, So here it goes. I open my eyes And we are at the top . My heart dropped To the ground like a sack of Idaho potatoes, As I said my last prayers. Hands in, Feet down, Buckle up, And enjoy the ride.

Candy Equals Love When I ever have The craving for candy, I automatically Think of Reeses. The real question is Why is Reeses so good? Well let me tell you, It’s a very simple answer; Chocolate and peanut butter. It’s like opening Your favorite Christmas present, But in your mouth. The melting of the milk chocolate Is like putting syrup on your pancakes, It’s complementary. Reeses, By far, Is the best Candy ever made, And nothing can ever change that fact.

Middle School

Rebelliousness is A word that means disobedience And that suggests poor decisions That may or may not lead to an entangled situation. Immaturity is A word that means not being fully developed And suggests crummy behavior That can destroy friendships from childhood. Adolescence is A term used to describe ones growth From a young person to adult Or in other words A teenager. Middle school is A place where rebelliousness is seen Followed by the immaturity of a growing adolescent Which can only suggest unlawful acts By the cretinous students.

Hear me Roar She stands up there Like a preacher at their podium. Strong and confident. Her voice Carries across the stage Like the sound of echoing in the Grand Canyon. Powerful and graceful Her show is magnificent Like watching fireworks Shoot off the top of skyscraper. Beautiful and unbelievable. She is by far my guilty pleasure.

Pain I hear the sound of piano keys Fill up the empty space in my room. I was lost like in a dream of darkness Scared and confused. All I feel now Is what most Can consider empty. What am I? Where am I? What have I become? Is this what you wanted? For me to feel this pain? Well there you go I don’t want to feel this anymore So here is what you have always wanted, To see me no more. So now I am gone for good.

Half Dome I see myself there Standing Staring At what seams to be A masterpiece, But in reality It’s a large-scale hill. It’s rocky like the surface of a man-made lake, with evergreens thriving along the cliffs. It reflects what is considered to be alluring, with the colors of warmth and reconciliation along its peak. I see myself there Standing Staring At 5,000 feet above the ground, looking at the most magnificent view known to man.

I Miss You One day I See you. Laughing And Crying. One day I Hear you. Singing And Humming. One day You’re gone. Fled. Across the country like a drifter on wheels. I haven’t Seen you, in years. I haven’t Heard from you, in years. Will I ever See you again? Will I ever Hear your voice again?

You Are There Days go by And the posts get worse “Indiana Discriminates” is written across the board and I puzzle with heartache. “I will continue to discriminate” says one business owner and I tear up with the bewilderment of ignorance that many may have.

We solved this issue Almost sixty years ago But for some reason Today We are still dealing with The obstinacy of our fellow Americans And the dispute they may bring. You are there But WE are here Today As the upward March Of equal human rights.
