DESCRIPTION

Arch 101 CCSF Experiencing Natural + Built Environments

TRANSCRIPT

Spring Break was heavily dedicated to spending time with family as well as re-energizing my design process and imagination.

I traveled to Lake Tahoe for the first part of the week, followed by a trip to Southern California.

While in Lake Tahoe, I was able to surround myself with natural experiences. Spending two of three days at

Sierra-At-Tahoe Ski resort snowboarding; one of my favorite activities in life. I find a release in

snowboarding that I do not feel anywhere else. A connection with nature and it’s architecture is a one-of-a

kind experience and I feel that greatly while flying down the mountain on my snowboard.

Nature can be one of our greatest teachers in life as well as the design process. By finding inspiration in the

transformation and growth of nature’s architecture, we can incorporate that emotional connection into our

work both mentally and physically. There is a sense of everything we look for to

create and design within nature.

For the second part of Spring Break, I traveled to Southern California with my family to help support and cheer

on my youngest sister’s Junior National High School cheer competition. While there, we visited Disneyland

and had an enormous amount of built experiences.

I have been going to Disneyland all my life but yet always

manage to see something new and exciting. You cannot help but feel like a child again when you enter

through gates onto Main Street, looking right down to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.

It is something that cannot be duplicated, in my opinion. The amount of man-made amazement in

Disneyland is spectacular. Breaking free of the everyday hassles of life, Disneyland provides a moment where life stand stil ls and the

imagination has a chance to run free. It really is the Happiest Place on Earth!
