Welcome to Phitsanulok
Indochina Hub.
Phitsanulok
Established more than 600 years ago, Phitsanulok
on the Nan River is one of Thailand's oldest
settlements. As a half-way point between Chiang
Mai and Bangkok, it's a popular refueling point for
overland travelers and is recognized for playing a
significant role in Thai history.
During the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya eras,
Phitsanulok was a powerful and prosperous city. In
the 1400s Phitsanulok was royal home to King
Borom Trailokanat and is the birthplace of the
revered King Naresuan.
Bountiful Image Buddha
Phitsanulok's most famous temple is Wat Phra Si Mahathat, or
Wat Yai, which contains a 700 year-old gold sculpture of Buddha:
the Phra Buddha Chinnarat. The temple is intricately decorated
with mother-of-pear inlays and houses a museum displaying art
from the Sukhothai period..
dragon boat race
Phitsanulok is very much a river city and
much of its main activities take place on or
near the Nan. One of the biggest annual
events is the dragon boat race held every
October – dragon boats holding an
important place in Phitsanoluk history and
culture. Houseboats are also a unique
feature of Phitsanoluk and line both banks
of the Nan. A Houseboat Museum is open
to visitors

Why use experience-based projects?
Experiential learning is a powerful teaching tool. While classroom lectures primarily address the cognitive domain, experiential learning involves the
whole student: their cognitive, affective and physical domains (Oxendine, Robinson and Willson, 2004) . The result is that students can relate to the
subject matter in a way that is meaningful to their own lives.
Experience-based projects offer a change of pace from traditional classroom assignments and facilitate learning for students with a variety of
learning styles (Millenbah et al, 2004). Students that struggle with writing papers and completing labs may find themselves re-engaged in the course
with the help of a project that draws from their own experiences. Even students who are high achievers in traditional assignments often appreciate an
original format.
Projects like this have a lasting impact. In a survey given to students 1-3 years after the Lifestyle Project at Skidmore College, 81% of the students
reported that they had made permanent changes to their lifestyles as a result of the project [Kirk and Thomas, 2003] .
Experience-based projects can help bring the students and the teacher closer together. Because they are sharing aspects of their own actions and
decisions, there is a personal element to this type of learning. This can be a valuable way for instructors to get to know their students, and for
students to pull together as a team.

Experience gained : The trips more than
experience . We see the lifestyle of people in
each area. Exposed to cold winter weather .
up the hill and down hill hiking in the
forest, the streams, the flowers have merit ,
many measure up stairs, 333 steps up and
down, not legs trembling and fainting
hungry Northern delicious. Nan and spread
all over the city, peaceful and beautiful.
Traditional way of life remains to be seen.
Finally, the fun , friendship pictures and a
break from everything.
