While we embark on our Performance Excellence Journey (and “Journey” is the operative word!), we still have to run the business. We still need to have an effective office function, provide outstanding customer service, engage our workforce, etc. While we work on long-term sustainability through the use of the Baldrige Excellence Framework, we have to effectively function in the short-term. So, while we continue to work on updating our Organizational Profile as the first step on our Journey, we are introducing quality tools into our current operations. In the last several months, we have been working on our value proposition to QNM’s partners, applicants, and other customers and stakeholders; our goal-tracking and action planning processes; and how we effectively and collaboratively carry out our work, just to name a few. There are a plethora of quality tools and processes to consider incorporating into our organization. Likely just with your organizations, they don’t get introduced all at once. In most cases, the quality tools that we started with were ones associated with our relationships and our work. Quality New Mexico succeeds not just because of our products and services but because of the relationships that we build and nurture in our marketplace. We don’t want to be a vendor or supplier but rather a partner with organizations throughout New Mexico that want to improve their performance. Regarding work, as a new staff, we took some time to understand what work we need to carry out and how it’s done. Now, through addressing key work processes and related measures such as efficiency and accuracy, we are focused on how to improve our work, both individually and collaboratively. So, the Performance Excellence Journey continues on two tracks…the long-term sustainable track and the short-term run the business track. Both are important to our success, and both are utilizing the Baldrige Excellence Framework. It’s a wonderful thing! We are also enthusiastically applying the principles of our core values and innovative spirit within our organization as well. Our updated newsletter, re-designed marketing materials, and elevated member benefits are just some of the new improvements you will soon see. In addition, our team is heading to The Fall Baldrige Conference in Tempe, AZ to hear 15+ regional and national leaders share best practices for improving organizational results. We are proud to note that one of those speakers is a Baldrige recipient from our very own state. Congratulations to Don Chalmer’s Ford, a 2016 Baldrige Recipient. The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is the highest level of national recognition for performance excellence that a U.S. organization can receive. As a partner of QNM, you have the opportunity to meet other like minded professionals, hear best practices, and receive discounts on products and training. In the near future, a survey will be sent to each of you to hear your thoughts on how we further improve our partner benefits. Please take a moment to respond. By working and growing together, we will make New Mexico THE State of Excellence! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have. Excellence Report NOVEMBER 2017

CEO Report | QNM’s Path to Performance Excellence Step 2: “Running the Business”…with Quality Tools!

While we embark on our Performance Excellence Journey (and “Journey” is the operative word!), we still have to run the business. We still need to have an effective office function, provide outstanding customer service, engage our workforce, etc. While we work on long-term sustainability through the

use of the Baldrige Excellence Framework, we have to effectively function in the short-term.
