An assumption often made about Country Music is that it’s boring or just for old people or cowboys. This isn’t the case. Country Music is growing increasingly popular around the world and my magazine is an example of just that. The artist featured in my magazine is not boring, she is not old or for old people in particular and she is not a cowboy. However as it is not as of yet as popular in the UK. These views of Country Music are quite normal, because people don’t know any better. A Country Music magazine with a young artist on the front is overcoming the stereotype. The connotations of having a person looking the age this artist looks would be:• teen magazine • not for adults

And the connotations of having the name ‘Country Tunes’ would be:• Country music• To some people – boring/uninteresting• For older people

So by combining this on my magazine cover and most other current Country Music magazines makes the magazine appeal to a wider demographic of people, the Country Music part to fans of the genre already and the artist on the front to teens and maybe even young kids or young adults.

My Magazine is aimed at both genders, it is gender neutral. The age range of the target audience is 13-30. This is because Country Music can appeal to anyone of any age, but the ones most likely to be interested would be within this age range.The magazine would appeal to those who like:• Taylor Swift• Carrie Underwood• Kellie Pickler• Keith Urban• Brad Paisley• Lady Antebellum

The magazine is very modern, so it doesn’t drone on about thelikes of Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton despite what peoplebelieve it might due to stereotypes. It’s all about the currentgeneration of Country Music.

Having these such artists on the cover would attract the rightcrowd of readers.Those who like Country Music and therefore would beinterested in this magazine in the UK at least are generally thosewho like lots of different kinds of music, so they will be alldifferent kinds of people of any class, age, race and gender.

Smiling connotes again to happiness,

Sun clearly shining connotes happiness,

Blonde hair and blue eyes connote beauty

and youth.

Young person connotes that this is

possibly not for older people.

Lots of bright colours also connote

happiness and you know looking at this cover that this is not

a rock or hip hop magazine.

Background is a picture which

connotes that this is not your typical pop

music magazine.

Acoustic guitar connotes goodness

as on rock magazines and the like you

would normally find an electric guitar.

Clothing connotes innocence as she is not almost naked

like some artists are.
