Does GOD listen to all prayers?

Of recent there has been repeated calls by the media,

(electronic and printed), mediators on call-in

programs, religious leaders and even law enforcement

officials for the nation to pray.

This request is made so as to have a divine intervention to curb the recent increase in

crime on the island.

Does GOD listen to all prayers?

Of recent there has been repeated calls by the media,

(electronic and printed), mediators on call-in programs, religious leaders and even law enforcement officials for the

nation to pray.

This begs me to ask the question: DOES GOD

LISTEN TO ALL PRAYERS?

The answer to that question is NO!

Prayer God Hears1 John 5:14-15

14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

Everyone Prays but not Everyone is Heard

We have spent so much of our energy on the

wrong side of the equation of prayer

The secret is praying only prayers that God hears!

Whatever He Hears He Answers

Beer-lahai-roi, God Sees And Hears

Her situation was desperate.

But in her time of anguish, God was there and saw her need. He sent an angel to the young woman (named Hagar) with

this message:

“You are now pregnant and will give birth to a son. You are to name him Ishmael

(which means ‘God hears’), for the Lord has heard your

cry of distress.”

God Hears SelectivelyGenesis 21:17

And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to

Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the

lad where he is.Friday, November 2, 12

Beer-lahai-roi, God Sees And Hears

From then on Hagar referred to the Lord as

“the God who sees me.”

The spring of water where the angel spoke to her is named Beer-lahai-roi, meaning “well of the Living One who sees

me”.

The Bible says, “It can still be found between Kadesh and

Bered.”

Me,” says the Lord, “So shall your descendants and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to

another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.

Personal PrayerNehemiah 1:10-11

10 “We are your servants, the people you rescued by your great power and might. 11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who

delight in honoring you. Please grant me success now as I go to ask the king for a great

favor. Put it into his heart to be kind to me.” In those days I was the king’s cup-bearer.

Jesus HimselfJohn 11:38-44

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And

Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 “And

I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You

sent Me.”

Now The CriteriaJohn 9:24-34

30 The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He

has opened my eyes! 31 “Now we know that God does not hear sinners;

but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.

The BarriersIsaiah 59:1-21

Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, 1 That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you

from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He

will not hear.

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector Luke 18:9-12

9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “ Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other

a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust,

adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess. ’

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector Luke 18:13-14

And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to

heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner! ’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who

exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Lessons on Righteousness from the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

Real prayer is transformative—we humble ourselves

before the Lord so He can align us with His Spirit and enable us to receive what

He’s providing to reshape us.

If we come to prayer with pride and condemnation in

our hearts, we’ll remain absolutely unchanged.

Page 26: Everybody Prays!

Lessons on Righteousness from the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

But if we come honestly and humbly seeking mercy, we’ll become

unburdened and free to enjoy the Holy Spirit’s

gracious presence in our lives.

Which posture of prayer will you choose?
