Sometimes you may prefer to paste text into a note and remove all formatting on that text (remove bold, italics, sizes, and other rich text). Removing formatting is especially helpful when copying and pasting text from a webpage with a variety of fonts, layouts.

Page 38: Evernote tutorial

Ways to eliminate the formatting:

1. Paste as Plain Text: Instead of pasting into the note as usual, select Edit > Paste as Text. The pasted text will be inserted into the note without any formatting whatsoever.

Page 39: Evernote tutorial

2. Simplify Formatting: Select Format > Simplify Formatting to convert an entire note into a default font size, font color, and line spacing while retaining basic rich text formatting (bold, italics, underline, hyperlinks, and bullet points).

3. Remove formatting: Select Format > Remove formatting to convert an entire note into a plain fixed-width font and size with no text formatting whatsoever.

Organize Your Notes

Notebooks

Notebooks are the most common way of organizing notes in Evernote, and are commonly used to separate notes by category, location or purpose. For example, you might create one notebook called 'Work Notes' and one called 'Personal Notes' to keep these types of notes separate and easier to find.

Page 67: Evernote tutorial

All Evernote accounts have one default notebook that is automatically created when the account is created.

Page 96: Evernote tutorial

What happens when multiple users edit the same note?

Page 97: Evernote tutorial

Evernote detects when multiple users are editing or updating a note at the same time. Once a user clicks inside a note and starts editing, other users can only view the note, but are prevented from editing it.

Note: This feature is currently available on Evernote for Windows; Evernote for Mac; Android; iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch; and the Web

Page 98: Evernote tutorial

Notification that someone else is editing a note (Windows)

Page 99: Evernote tutorial

A notification appears near the top of the note to let users know when a note is being edited by someone else. Once this notification disappears, the note is no longer locked and is available for others to edit.

Edit anyway

Note: This feature is currently available on Evernote for Windows and Evernote for Mac

Page 100: Evernote tutorial

If the option is available, and you choose to select “Edit anyway," Evernote creates a duplicate note with any edits made. This duplicate note is automatically saved to a notebook named “Conflicting Changes...” along with a unique timestamp. Users are responsible for determining which changes they would like to keep or discard.
