Monday 19 January

Come and join us in celebrating the great American leader. We’ve got stories and activities about Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement. So bring your kids and tell your friends!

India National Day [All the family]

Monday 26 January

Come and participate in the Independence Day, commemorating the day in 1947 when India achieved freedom from British rule. Come and celebrate with us in the flag hoisting ceremony and other cultural activities.

Burns Night [All the family]

Sunday 25 January

Robert Burns: poet, balladeer and Scotland’s favourite son. Each year on January 25, the great man’s presumed birthday, Scots everywhere take time out to honour a national icon. We can’t offer you a full - blown Burns supper, but we can certainly help you find some good poetry for a quiet nights reading - so come and celebrate with us

January 26, marks the start of the Year of the Ox on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Celebrate the Chinese New Year holiday with great kids’ activities and crafts. Also learn about the history and meaning behind Chinese New Year symbols.

Come along to find out about all the great services for disabled residents on offer in Tower Hamlets. Get information on what is available in Idea Stores and throughout the borough. Stalls and information with representatives from various groups will be in store all day.

Rhyme Time: National Storytelling Week Special [Age 0-5]

To celebrate National Storytelling Week we’ll be extending our regular Rhyme Time slot and in addition to all the usual singing and stories we’ll also be making storytelling puppets for you to take home and enjoy!

A day celebrating the diversity of different languages and cultures, and where better to celebrate than Tower Hamlets? Activities all day; learn how to say the alphabet and other basic words in different languages, write your name in different linguistic scripts plus children’s arts and crafts activities too!
