Evaluation for preliminary task.

1. How effective was the pre-production workflow of your preliminary task.I thought that when we was planning our preliminary task using mind

maps and story boards all before we started to film the video footage. We all decided on what our main story line would be and who was going to be characters etc. We stuck to our original plan but when we had was discussing location planning we decided on a location, took pictures of the location and written small amounts about it. We soon found out that our chosen location was not free when we needed it so we had to change our story boards and location in a short amount of time before we started filming the preliminary task. It really helped when we was planning pre-production that we would discuss our ideas as a group and all agree on the best ones. If this was not to happen we wouldn't of worked as a team and we may not have been so successful as we have in the final outcome. I thought that we could improve on our planning more, we should of found out if the location was free before we started taking pictures and writing our story boards. We could have got our filming quicker and more important things in the preliminary task could of got done.

2.What technology did you use to film the preliminary task and how well did it go?When we was filming our footage for the preliminary

task we was using the Apple Ipad. I thought that when we was filming it went very well and I was very pleased how well we was able to adapt the using the Ipad’s because no member of our group had filmed using these devices before. We had to make sure we was filming landscape because we had to import it the computer it would have black blacks down the side which we did not want. Also ti as very easy to import the footage onto the Imac because they were both Apple products which makes it easier to connect. It didn't take long for this to happen.

3. What did you learn from the actual filming that you will need to think about in the future?I have learnt form the filming that I need to

make sure in future projects I should plan in more detail so that i do not have jumps through some shots. I also think that I have learnt to make sure that my location is free when I need to use that location to film.

4.What technology did you use to edit your preliminary task and how well did this go?When we imported our video footage from

the Ipads onto the Imacs, we then imported it again into Imovie which comes standard with all Apple Imacs. I thought that this was very easy to do and easy to navigate around. I found it especially good when we wanted to cut our video footage into what we wanted, it only took a few minutes and then was even easier to add music clips and sound affects to the video.

5. How well does your completed preliminary task meet the criteria set for it?

I think that my final preliminary task video fits the criteria well because we made sure that we had two people exchanging dialogue to one another. Throughout the video we produced different camera movements and different camera shot for example the crane shot and 180 degree rule. I also think that our video fitted the criteria because we edited all our footage and even made a plain video without sound and effect and then created another piece that had sound, effects and music which I thought that the final outcome of the second video was the best because it could be more interesting for the audience.

6. What do you think, overall you have learnt from the process of completing the preliminary task?Overall I feel that I have learnt how to produce

a piece of footage that has different camera shots and movements throughout the whole video. For the next project I feel that I am confident to plan the video, location planning and all the planning that we have to do before we start filming, independently. Although we worked as a group this time I feel confident enough to do this myself. I am pleased with the final outcome of our video and i think we all worked well as a team.
