Dear participants
Welcome to the 14th Seminar organized by the European Procurement Forum (EUPF) in New York. The EUPF is a non-profit organization, managed by the New York based staff from various European Union member states, Consulates and Missions to the UN. Our mission is to help European companies initiate and grow their business within the UN marketplace. With that spirit, we have received more than 1,000 different European companies in the past thirteen seminars.
This year, we have introduced a few changes in the structure of the Seminar. We continue to be focused on practical procurement issues, to offer opportunities for one-on-one meetings with UN Agencies, and seek to make the presentation of institutional issues more dynamic. Accordingly, we have improved the general information sessions on procedure, with the addition of three webinars, and have included five thematic workshops with several UN entities. These workshops focus on specific aspects of procurement procedures for different sectors and reflect our commitment to address the critical needs of the UN.
Our seminar has also evolved in response to the different challenges. Having to operate under some of the most difficult conditions and circumstances, the UN must continuously innovate in order to fulfill its missions effectively and companies must respond to these challenges as well in order to empower the UN.
We are aware that companies highly value the guidance of, and support from, procurement officials. We happily have been able to secure that support throughout the years. Our objective is not only to maximize the number of individual meetings for companies, but to ensure they are meaningful, which can only be achieved by having a full partnership with UN entities.
We also wish to thank the representatives of the different EU countries who have mobilized their companies to participate. Finally, we express our immense gratitude towards all of you. We applaud you for exploring the UN market and for persevering in such a complex and competitive environment.
EUPF is proud to be your host during this Fourteenth European Procurement Forum. We are excited to receive your feedback and we look forward to your continued involvement.
On behalf of all our EUPF members, welcome to our seminar!

Dear Participants
On behalf of my United Nations colleagues, I am delighted to welcome you to the 14th Annual
European Union – United Nations Procurement Seminar.
Since its inauguration in 2003, this Seminar has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events each year.
It provides a great opportunity for companies and UN staff to come together and learn from each
other through presentations, workshops, discussions and one-on-one meetings. So I would like to thank the
organisers for once again arranging this year’s two-day discussion.
In addition to providing up-to-date information on how to conduct business within the UN System, we will aim to
provide you with updates on the deployment of our enterprise resource planning system, Umoja, and the
changes this is bringing to procurement, as well as developments in the areas of electronic submission of
expressions of interest and e-tendering, and progress we are making in the transition in solicitation methodology
for long-term air charter.
We very much look forward to your active engagement in the discussions and hope you will find this seminar as
valuable to you as it is to procurement professionals in the UN Secretariat.
Mr. Stephen J. Cutts Assistant Secretary-General for Central Support Services (OCSS), DM
