Harar is located in the eastern part of the Country and part of the historic circuits. The Walled city of Harar is an ancient city with rich and colorful history. Harar is 523 Kilometers east of Addis Ababa, the capital. The most dominant feature of Harar is its strong encircling wall, which embraces the town, its exciting market places, and Its 99 mosques. Harar is the fourth holiest city after Makka, Madina and Jerusalem. Dire Dawa , was founded in 1902 when the railroad from Djibouti reached the area, and its growth has resulted largely from trade brought The railway line that reached Dire Dawa in 1902 is believed to have been the reason the city came into being in the first place. That is why the railway station is one of the destinations of tourists and other visitors coming to the city. Kefira is a traditional market place where one can see the colorful presentation of all people of the region in their cultural dresses.
DAY 01: Addis – Dire Dawa – Harar
In the morning, fly east to Dire Dawa and visit the Ethio-Djibouti Rail ways station which dates back to the beginning of the first decade of the 20th Century, and the spice market of Dire Dawa. Then, drive 55 km to the old and walled town of Harar which was the Muslim Capital of Ethiopia in the medieval time. Here you will have a sightseeing tour to visit the walls and gates of Harar, the multicultural market of the people of Amhara, Oromo, and Adere(Harari), the house of the famous 19th Century French poet – Arthur Rimbaud, and in the evening drive to one of the gates of Harar to visit the ‘Hyena Man’ when he feeds wild hyenas by hand. DAY 02: Harar – Dire Dawa – Addis
After breakfast drive back to Dire Dawa for your flight back to Addis. En route, visit the biggest Chat (mild stimulant chewed by addicted) Market at Aweday. Have a leisure time in Addis and in the evening, you will be our guest at a farewell dinner party. Departure
