will be in his 22nd year as the lead voice on the Texas Ran-gers radio broadcasts in 2016. It marks his 38th year broad-casting Rangers baseball, the longest tenure of any announ-cer in the history of the franchise and the second longest continuous current stint with one team in the American Lea-gue to Kansas Cityʼs Denny Matthews (48th year in 2016).

The Ford C. Frick Award is presented annually for excellence in broad-casting by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Nadel became the first primary voice of the Texas Rangers to be honored with the Frick Award.

Nadel was honored at the Hall of Fameʼs Awards Presentation on Satur-day, July 26, 2014 in Cooperstown, New York, along with Roger Angell and Joe Garagiola. He was inducted as the 15th member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame on August 11, 2012.

our very special guest to-day, Max Raney, the Uni-versity Park Fire Marshall. Shawn Foster announ-ced the Marketplace ad-vertiser of the week.

Nolan Duck read a memorial to PDG Dick Dickson who passed away in August, 2014. He was remembered as a wonderful friend to the club and to the district. He was a member for forty-four years and the President in 1985. He was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. His three chil-dren were pre-sent for the memorial.

PE Tracy Gomes reported on the stra-tegic planning meeting on January 15. He re-viewed the clubʼs strategic priorities: (1) to en-gage current members and attract new mem-bers through service, fellowship and network-ing; (2) to enhance club impact and communi-ty awareness through collaborative parner-ships; and (3) to address hunger with an em-phasis on childhood nutrition and education.

President Karen introduced our newest

Womanʼs University. She is the area manager for Encore. PP Bill Sleeper announced the evening meeting on February 11. He encour-aged everyone to bring a guest.

PP Phillip Bankhead introdu-ced our speakers today. First to speak was new member Herb Ziev. He said he

grew up in eastern Pennsylvania and attended Temple University. He moved here to be a buyer for Titche-Goettinger. He received an MBA from the University of Dallas. He has been in the mortgage business for about sev-en years. He is married with one son, three stepsons, and one grandchild.

Next to speak was former member, Ben March. He has been a Rotarian for thirty-three years, but at various clubs due to relocations. This is his third time at RCPC, and he remarked that it

is great to be back. He says “Service Above Self” is important ot him and his family. He believes it was fortunate that he was born in Waco, although he grew up in Ft. Worth. He is the third generation to attend Baylor, where he met his wife. He has been a fund raiser for Baylor, but currently he and his wife are in real estate.

Last, but not least, was experienced member Gerry Montgomery. He is a world traveler and has brought back a record number of flags to the club from five continents. He brought his photographs from The Guy-anas and Tanzania, as well as a selection of photos from his other travels. Gerryʼs pho-tographs have been published in The Rotari-an Magazine.

THOUGHTS ON . . .

An ardent supporter of the home-town team should go to a game pre-pared to take offense, no matter what happens.

~ Robert BenchleyOf course the game is rigged. Don't let that stop you--if you don't play, you can't win. ~ Robert HeinleinIt's never just a game when you're winning. ~ George CarlinYou learn a lot about people when you play games with them.

~ Laura MoncurPlayers win games, teams win championships. ~ Bill TaylorIf life doesn't offer a game worth playing, then invent a new one.

Entrepreneurship, jobs, and skills are fun-damental for poverty reduction and develop-ment. This post, the fourth in a series on open access World Bank publications, provides easy access to a selection of 50 books and reports published since 2010 by the World Bank on entrepreneurship, jobs, and skills. The publica-tions were compiled as a resource for partici-pants at the 2016 Rotary Presidential Confer-ence on Economic Development in Cape Town, South Africa.

The list of publications is available at http://rotarianeconomist.com/rotary-action-

groups/entrepreneurship-jobs-and-skills/The World Bank publications cover eight

main areas as follows: Entrepreneurship and employment for women; Entrepreneurship and employment for youth; Regional and country studies on entrepreneurship; Jobs and labor markets; Business climate; Jobs during the cri-sis and in fragile contexts; Skills for the work-force; and finally Entrepreneurship education.

The hope is that these resources will be useful to Rotarians and others working on eco-nomic development. The focus is on books published since 2010.

A young lady came home and told her mother that her boy friend had proposed but she had turned him down because she found out he was an atheist, and didn't believe in God, nor Heaven or Hell.

"Marry him anyway dear," the Mother said. "Between the two of us, we'll show him Heaven and Hell, and we'll make a believer out of him.
