In principle, a normal study load at Tilburg University is 4 or 5 courses per semester, which equals 30 ECTS. Students can take fewer credits as long as it does not drop under 24-30 ECTS per semester. If students would like to take fewer credits than 24 ECTS, this needs to be approved by the home university. Students can register for more courses, but this is strongly discouraged due to the heavy course load.

Language of instruction: English, Dutch Recommended language skills: B2 The courses open to exchange students are taught in English. Therefore, only students who have mastered the English language are accepted. The partner university of Tilburg needs to guarantee that the nominated student has a sufficient level of English.

At JMU, students can attain a maximum of 60 credits per semester, which would usually represent 5 for 12 credits each or 120 credits, representing 10 modules for the year. Therefore, you should divide JMU credits by 2 to convert them to ECTS credits. To complete a year’s work successfully, a student has to pass a sufficient number of modules in order to gain 120 credits. However, exchange students do not necessarily have to gain 60 credits per semester, 36 or 48 credits will be sufficient if your university agrees.

DEEL II

ORGANISATIE VAN HET STUDIEPROGRAMMA

1. Principe Artikel 1 § 1.
