The most important feature of Pakistani’s education system is inherent inequalities.

• Seven million primary-aged children are out-of-school, mostly due to poverty and partly due to non-existence of school, absence of teacher and learning material or other reasons.

• Of the children who do attend school, given that most of the population (63%) lives in rural areas, do not obtain quality education.

Analysis Of The existing Situation:

• The majority of children, residing mainly in rural and semi-urban areas , attend public schools which offer free local-system(matriculate stream) education and display poor quality such as 1. Shortage or absence of teachers, 2. Weak infra-structure and 3. Lack of learning materials.

•Children of upper-middle and upper classes, residing in prosperous urban localities, mostly attend high cost private schools which offer both local as well as foreign examination system(such as O and A levels) and are trained teachers, well-equipped classrooms, all essential facilities and good quality , often imported teaching and learning materials.

• Income circulation, urban-rural residences determine the varying access to education. The average percentage of population that ever attended school is higher for urban (73%) than rural (50%) areas. •There are also wide variations across gender within urban as well as rural areas with males enjoying a higher access than females.

Recommendations:

All above problems related to equal educational opportunities in Pakistan can be solved;

• If facilities are provided in Public schools. • Similarly if the salaries of all government teachers are increased.• There should be teacher training institutions in rural areas for production of qualified and effective teachers. • Medium of instruction should also be same. • Incentives should be provided for parents of poor children.

• Education awareness programmes should be there. They should work so that awareness should be provided to the people.• Strict monitoring of children not going to school.• Monitoring and performance evaluation system at all levels should be ensured.
