Policies

• Attendance and Punctuality:– Lab attendance is mandatory.– Labs will start on time.– Absent students will get no credit for lab report.– Students arriving up to 10 minutes late, will get a 10%

deduction of lab report grade. After 10 minutes, no credit.

– Special cases: case-by-case basis

Policies• Lab Reports:

– One report per team.– Submit reports on time.– Submit a hard copy signed by each member

of team.– All lab reports should be printed on white A4

pages.– All lab reports are due one week after the lab

session.– Late reports will not be accepted.

Policies• Lab Teams:

– Teams of 3 or 4 members.– Students should send an e-mail to TA with the

name and e-mail address of each team member.

– Changing teams is allowed with the express consent of instructor.

– Each team member should assume an equal portion of the lab and report writing tasks.

Lab Safety - Rules

• Do not turn on any equipment unless with the consent of the instructor or lab TA.

• Learn the location of all safety equipment.• Absolutely No Smoking, eating, or drinking in

the laboratory.• Clean your area at the conclusion of each

experiment.

Lab Safety• Use your common sense.• Be aware that you are working with potentially

dangerous equipment.• In case of emergency:

– Call 911 (9-911 from a campus phone) and have the following information ready:

• Your name• Location• Specific information about the incident.

– Be familiar with the evacuation routes.

• Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Lab Reports - Experiments• All reports must contain the following:

– Title Page: It should include the title of the experiment, team member’s name, and date.

– Objective: short statement of the purpose of the experiment.– Introduction: explanation of the problem giving the reader enough

background.– Procedure: description of the experimental setup and steps

followed during the experiment (a schematic drawing of the experiment is desired).

– Findings: summary of the data of the experiment, it could be in the form of tables, figures, graphs.

– Conclusions: interpretation of the results explaining how the objectives were accomplished.

– Answers to Questions in lab manual.
