Next Tuesday, December 13, there will be six tour buses with approximately 300 people coming to Enid for a full day of
Christmas activities. This will have an economic impact of about $30,000 for our community. They will be touring homes
in the Waverley Historic District, getting a special presentation of Christmas in the Village at Cherokee Strip Regional
Heritage Center, touring the Bivens Chapel at NOC and Christmas shopping at Heritage Hills and Willow Plaza shopping
centers. You may get slowed a bit while traveling around Enid that day due to these tour buses, but understand how
much of an economic impact they are bringing to our community, and I hope any interaction you may have with our
guests will be positive. For many of our incoming guests, this may be their first time in Enid, and we want to show off our
community in the best way possible.
Mark your calendars, as Enid has two outstanding holiday concerts coming next week. On Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7 pm,
Oklahoma native and Grammy Award-winning country music artist Bryan White with special guest Steve Richard will put
on a Christmas concert at the Gaslight Theatre. Tickets available through ticketstorm.com or bryanwhite.com. Then on
Sunday Dec. 18 at 6:30 pm, Celtic Thunder brings its Gaelic holiday concert to the Chisholm Trail Expo Center. Those
tickets are available by calling the Expo Center at 580-237-0238.
And speaking of the Gaslight, they are having auditions next Monday and Tuesday night, Dec. 12 and 13, for their dinner
theatre production, “Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily.” The cast consists of five men and two women,
and the production dates are Feb. 10-11 and 17-18. They are always seeking new talent, so call the Gaslight at 234-2307
if you have any questions about the tryouts, or check out their website at www.gaslighttheatre.org .
A special shout-out of congratulations to the staff and volunteers at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center. The
reviews for the opening of Christmas in the Village have been terrific. Nice front-page photos and a Page 3 article in this
morning’s Enid News & Eagle as well. If you missed it yesterday, they will be open again the next two Saturday
afternoons, Dec. 10 and 17, from 1-3 pm to give you a chance to experience Christmas like it was around 1900 in the
Cherokee Outlet.
