A daring attempt by Phoenix to challenge the existing norm of the media to give you an alternative perceptive on the global news, with the first hand reference of high-ranking officials, experts, researchers, political advisers, analysts, strategic professors from different geo-political backgrounds.

Catching up the fluid state of the international affairs is not an easy task. Secret Documentary focuses on the margins of society, throwing light on the lives of mostly unknown minorities, such as illegal immigrants, underdogs and drug addicts. The program reveals their unusual experiences and explores their background for answers. It investigates how people end up living in margins and provides a unique insight into their lives in a sensitive manner.

Launched in 2003, the programme is well into its 12th year and has featured more than 600 characters so far.

Secret Documentary touches the hearts of audiences who respond by giving donations to the subjects appearing on the program. From there, Phoenix set up a charity fund for the poor and unfortunate in 2004. Hosted by the unassuming Chen, her charm and down-to-earth style build up a strong bond between the viewers and Phoenix.

Setting out from compelling news photos, Pic of the Day guides audience through all the subtle messages woven into the play of light and shade in the image. Through the precision of the camera lens, Pic of the Day zeroes in on the focal point and traces out the blueprint of truth hidden in a panoramic perspective.

Hosted by Phoenix’s seasoned reporters, each episode centers in one or two news headlines and features a selection of related photos with which the presenter illustrates and analyzes the stories. With a wealth of reporting experience, keen news sense and broad vision, all the hosts of Pic of the Day are well-placed to articulate their sharp insights with a strong dose of personal style.

Jiang Xiao Feng has reported on many major international incidents, including the Mumbai attacks and Thailand political turmoil. In 2011, he was among a group of international journalists trapped in a Tripoli hotel being used as human shields.

Fu Xiao Tian has been Phoenix’s chief correspondent in London and international affairs observer.
