PROGRAMSWe offer both full-time daytime and part-time evening programs. With the excep-tion of holidays when the college is closed, classes meet four days per week throughout the year.

• Full-time,duringthedaysession,18 hours per week

• Part-time,duringtheeveningsession,4–8 hours per week

During the summer sessions, students attend class 24 hours per week. Please check our website at www.qc.cuny.edu/eli for upcoming semester and session dates.

ELI has several levels of classes. After registering for the program, you will take an examination* to determine which class level addresses your language needs. Whether you are at a beginning level, an advanced level, or are somewhere in between, you will be placed in the class that is right for you. Work on listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar

to improve and strengthen your ability to communicate in English. All students who attend classes regularly and successfully complete their assigned work receive an official certificate at the end of each semester.

We offer free electives that allow you to practice English and have fun at the same time. Our advanced students enjoy auditing Queens College classes in order to have a better understanding of what lies ahead for them.

IMMUNIZATIONThe English Language Institute does not require proof of immunization, but the Queens College Health Service Center recommends that all students be immunized against measles, mumps, and rubella before coming to the United States. It is a good idea to bring proof of any vaccinations you have had in your country when you come to the U.S.

HOUSINGELI students are welcome to apply for housing in QC’s award-winning Summit Apartments, located in the heart of the campus.

Visit www.queenscollegehousing.com for more information.

APPLYING FOR ADMISSION TO QUEENS COLLEGE Many of our students go on to study at Queens College or another college of the City University of New York. The Princeton Review’s America’s Best Value Colleges ranks Queens among the top 100 schools in the nation for its out-standing academics, generous financial aid packages for residents, and relatively low cost.

Visit www.qc.cuny.edu/admissions for more information about applying to Queens College. For more information on other CUNY colleges, please visit www.cuny.edu.

CAMPUSQueens College is one of the City University of New York’s largest senior colleges. The college is situated on a beautiful, 80-acre campus 10 miles from Manhattan. Here you will enjoy a tranquil, park-like setting with all the resources of a major college, including a full athletic center and two theaters for the performing arts. The college is continuously expanding, opening new cafés and dining areas, updating buildings, and embarking on a variety of campus-beautification projects.

Queens College is located in the Flushing area of Queens, one of the five boroughs of New York City and the one with the greatest ethnic and racial diversity in the United States. Here you can experience both the culture and language of a new country but still find people who speak your language and share your culture.

STUDENTS & ACTIVITIESQueens College students come from over 140 different countries. You will enjoy meeting people from all over the world, both on and off campus. There are over 100 clubs that you may join. Ongoing cul tural events include read-ings by renowned writers, concerts, and theater and dance performances. For a small fee, ELI students can purchase a membership to our Athletics and Fitness Center, which allows you to use the pool and tennis courts.

FACULTYAll members of our faculty have earned graduate degrees in Applied Linguistics/Teaching English as a Second Language and have an average of 21 years of teaching experience in our program. Using the latest techniques and materials, teachers give you personal attention and evaluate your prog-ress throughout the semester. Classes are small, encouraging maximum participation.
