The Gilded Age

This look book collection was inspired by the “Beautiful Era” La BelleEpoque in Paris, The Gilded Age in America & Edwardian in Great Britian.

The years were 1871 to 1914 right before WWI. It was also a time of greatchange into modern art known as Art Nouveau where �ora & fauna became important artistic muses. Film was just taking o� and all of this produced a very romantic ethereal fashion. This was a time of peace in the world and lavish dress. I love the movie “The Titanic” and the headgear Rose wore. The evening headpieces were of particular beauty. Now with the interest in Edwardianfashions due to the Steampunk movement & Downton Abbey, I decided to create a line of evening headpieces similar to those duringthese fashion eras. Gold braid and sequins shimmer on top of the headin romantic tiara style headbands. These pieces were also in�uencedby a very famous designer during the early 20th Century by the nameof Paul Poiret who was a fore runner to the emancipated Flapper butnot a �apper era designer. He was in�uenced by the Directorie empireraised waistlines and what they termed “Orientlism”. His headpieceswere simple and exotic.
