EmploymentCrossing Jobs Data Shows Holiday Season Jobs Growth BetterThan in 2011

More seasonal jobs at EmploymentCrossing substantiate expected growth in holiday seasonjobs and part-time jobs.

Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) September 30, 2012 -- This holiday season the numbers of seasonal hiring is expectedto be greater than that of last year according to recent surveys and studies. The recently published ChallengerAnnual Holiday Hiring Outlook claims that retailers are upbeat about sales prospects, but there may not be abig hiring surge like in 1999, which was during the dotcom boom. However, the numbers of holiday seasonhires are going to be significantly higher than in last year and add at least 40,000 more jobs, despite someemployers like Target predicting lower recruitment numbers.

However, positive trends including greater sales expectations can lead to a temporary surge in hiring. In August2012 the total payroll employment was up by more than 1.8 million workers in 2011. That is sure to make asignificant difference as also the growth in weekly earnings reported by the bureau of labor statistics.

Kohl’s has already announced that it would be increasing its seasonal recruiting by more than 20%, from40,000 in 2011 to an expected 52,700 this year. UPS and FedEx are expected to add workers if the holidayseason gets under way with close to two million more people having jobs than they had last year. Big retailerslike Wal Mart and Toys R US are also expected to boost hiring. However the situation is significantly betterthan that in 2011, when there were only 1.9% growth in seasonal jobs compared to more than 30% in 2010.

The projections made in the Challengers Annual Holiday Hiring Outlook fully agree with the job trends dataobserved at America’s top job board, EmploymentCrossing. EmploymentCrossing, America’s leading job site, also reported an increase in the number of part-time, temporary, and seasonal jobs in recent weeks. In fact, injust the last seven days, the job board listed over 550,000 jobs in the private sector, a positive indication of jobsgrowth

Harrison Barnes, CEO of EmploymentCrossing was enthusiastic over the jobs trend in all sectors and felt that“this year seasonal employment is going to be significantly better than in 2011”.
