SOLICITED APLICATION LETTER
It can serve as the cover letter for your resumee.
This one is sent in reponse to a help-wanted adver tise.
It must refer to the specific adver tised job.
It is the oppor tunity to demonstrate your skills and to
show that they would be suitable for the company’s offer.
Dear Miss. Ericastilla:
I have read your web-page where your prestigious company is looking for a
Bilingual Secretary for the position of Manager Asistant. I would like to apply for
this unique opportunity.
I am graduated from Instituto Guatemalteco Americano –IGA- and have been
taking English courses at CALUSAC since 2009. So I consider I could handle very
well any task you would assign me in a quick and efficient way. I am a responsible
and reliable person, capable of following instructions and I can easily adapt to any
work place. I would like to extend my knowledge about your culture, how to link
both countries, Guatemala and the United Kingdom; and to create a real
difference to promote and develop human rights, laws and global economy.
Attached you will find all the information you request. It would be a pleasure
for me to have my first experience as a secretary in the business field at your
company. I am looking forward to your favorable and prompt answer.
Sincerely yours,
UNSOLICITED APPLICATION LETTER
This one is sent to a company for which you would like to work even
though you know of no par ticular opening.
The advantage of this type of apllication is tat, there will be little
competition.
You can personally define the position you would like to apply for.
Also, It is a good idea to find out the name of a specific person. This
makes th letter more effective than simply addressing to “Personnel”.
Dear Miss. Ericastilla:
This month I completed a two-year course of study in Travel and Tourism at the
Bowker Business Instituto and my placement counselor, Mr. Robert Fiener,
suggested I appply to you for a position as assistan travel agent.
As you will see from my enclosed resume, my work experience has helped me
develop an ability to deal with the public, a valuable asset for a travel agency.
Not only as a sales assistant, but even as a stock clerk, I have lerned to be
customer oriented; I have found that courtesy and a smile keep business flowing
smootlly.
I would like very much, Miss Ericastilla, to put my skills to word for your travel
agency. I am available for an interview at your convenience. You can reach me at
(718) 884-778.
Yours very truly,
The resume is sometimes called a data sheet or vita.
It is an “outline” of all you have to offer a new employer;
therefore, it presents your qualifications, background, and
experiences in a way that will convince a business person to grant
you and interview.
Also it is the first impression you make on an employer.
It promotes those traits you want the employer to know you
possess; in addition, for that reason it must look professional.

2010-2012 Fourth to Sixth Bilingual Secretarial with certified of Executive

It should be cour teous and brief.
It should tnak the employer fo r the interview and restate your
interest in the job.
A reference to a successful moment at the interview is agood,
personalizing touch.
Few people nowadays send this type of letter, for this reason
alone, it can be highly effective.
Dear Miss Ericastilla:
Thank you for allowing me to discuss my travel qualifications in person.
Having met you and Mrs. DeLoia, and seen your agency in operation, I sincerely
hope I will have the chance to put my training to work for you.
Enclosed is a copy of my transcript from the Bowker Business Institute, along
with the letter of reference you requested. I can be reached at (718) 884-7788
during regular business hours.
Sincerely yours,
The difference between letter of reference and
recommendation is slim. A recommendation (next page) is
an endorsment while a reference is simply a repor t.
This letter gives verifices facts.
It should contain a statement of the letter’s purpose.
Also, an account of the duties performed by the applicant
or of the applicant’s general qualifications.
Dear Miss Ericastilla:
I am happy to provide the information you requested regarding Arnold Stevens
with the understanding that this information will kept confidential.
Mrs. Stevens has been a tock clerk and then a sales assistant in my store since
September 2001. He has always been willing to work odd hours, including
weekends and holidays, and has proven to be a hardworking and trustworthy
employee.
Sincerely yours,
This letter should include:
A statement of the letter’s purpose.
An account of the duties performed by the applicant of of the applicant’s general qualification.
A concluding statement specifically recommending the applicant for the par ticular position.
This is a persuasive type of letter.
Dear Miss Ericasitlla:
Arnold Stevens was a student in three of my travel courses during his school
years. He was always an outstanding student.
Ms. Stevens demmonstrated his thorough grasp of the subject matter in his
class performance as well as written work. His assignments werw always executed
with conscientiousness and punctuality. Moreover, he was an enthusiastic
participatn in class discussions and helped to make the couses rewarding
experiences for everyone else involved.
Therefore, I can recommend Mr. Stevens without hesitation, for the position of
assistant in your travel agency.
Yours very truly,
