ITEM: EMBROIDERED RANK INSIGNIA, FIELD UNIFORM OPTION DESIGN As an approved field uniform option for members of the rank of lieutenant and above, rank

insignia may be displayed by direct embroidery of rank on the collar of the white uniform shirt and by the application of a patch with the correct rank embroidered upon it on the epaulet of the member’s outer garment. This option may be worn when assigned to field duties only. When weather requires the use of an outer garment, both direct embroidery upon the shirt collar and patch upon the outer garment’s epaulet are required. Embroidered insignia are required on all fleece jackets.

MATERIAL: Fabric: Background material shall be 7-8oz./yd, 65/35 % polyester/cotton twill. Color: Dark navy blue

Thread: Colorfast super-strength rayon yarn vat-dyed in corresponding colors of the appropriate patch in specified colors or equal and applicable standards.

Colors: Silver PMS 877 Gold PMS 871

EMBROIDERING: All direct embroidery of collar rank insignia will be made in the color and rank appropriate to

the member. Members will ensure that direct embroidery of collar rank is made in the appropriate location position on the collar as described in G.O. 98-10-02, Item IX and Uniform Specification No. 9.1422A. Embroidered rank insignia will be identical in size to the corresponding metal rank insignia otherwise worn.

All patches shall be machine-embroidered with starched or plastic film backing and crinoline or buckram underlayer. Background color will match the dark navy blue color of the garment upon which it will be sewn. There shall be no bleeding, running, or fading of colors. All edges will be stitched in corresponding dark navy blue color of patch background. Members will ensure that rank patches are sewn on in the appropriate location and position on the epaulet as described in G.O. 98-10-02, Item IX. Upon the patch, rank insignia will be identical in size to the corresponding metal rank insignia otherwise worn.
