Inference Definition- The process of deriving the strict

logical consequences of assumed premises, logic.

Example-Lindsey’s toddler is in bed upstairs. She hears a bang and crying. Lindsey can infer that her toddler fell out of bed.

Norman sees cookie crumbs on the floor and chocolate around his sons mouth. Norman can infer that his son got into the cookie jar.

Activity Get into 4 groups of six. Each group will pick a slip of paper from the box. Each slip of paper has an example of one of the

rhetorical devices on it. Each group will decide which rhetorical device it is.

The first group to guess what device it is gets a point, the group with the most points at the end wins.

There will be three rounds.
