No original parts were altered in the repair of this watch and only critically worn or damaged parts were replaced, these being the damaged balance staff and the tired mainspring. I regret the delays in repair which were in part due to me practicing the repair on a duplicate balance assembly and eliminating risk with your watch. Availability of parts also stopped me from attempting to true the balance in the flat on this new installed staff which was not Elgin stock. I felt it best to mitigate risk. The mainspring is new and not Elgin. Original springs obviously would be tired as well. This spring is either too thick, or too strong to provide any reserve power. A few winds are all it takes and it will run for six hours. I hand polished the case, and also the crystal but as discussed left the patina. The watch is exactly as your grandfather would have known it and reflects the pedigree of this fine heirloom. Your grandson can wear this watch for special occasions but these are vulnerable to shock. If you ever need the watch shipped I will at no charge provide you suitable packaging. You were very kind to compensate me above my expectations. Respectfully, Dean Pocius Casemark: 36ΔZZ [email protected]

Hello Mr. Cleveland Colston;

Thank you for the opportunity to repair your Grandfather’s watch. No original parts were altered in the

repair of this watch and only critically worn or damaged parts were replaced, these being the damaged

balance staff and the tired mainspring.

I regret the delays in repair which were in part due to me practicing the repair on a duplicate balance

assembly and eliminating risk with your watch.

Availability of parts also stopped me from attempting to true the balance in the flat on this new installed

staff which was not Elgin stock. I felt it best to mitigate risk.

The mainspring is new and not Elgin. Original springs obviously would be tired as well.

This spring is either too thick, or too strong to provide any reserve power. A few winds are all it takes

and it will run for six hours.

I hand polished the case, and also the crystal but as discussed left the patina. The watch is exactly as

your grandfather would have known it and reflects the pedigree of this fine heirloom.

Your grandson can wear this watch for special occasions but these are vulnerable to shock. If you ever

need the watch shipped I will at no charge provide you suitable packaging.

You were very kind to compensate me above my expectations.

Respectfully,

Dean Pocius
