We encourage you to enjoy all that our island has to offer and, we guarantee that after visiting Harbour Island “Once Is Not Enough”. Thank you for choosing beautiful Harbour Island, your home away from home.

June CartwrightActing Manager, Harbour Island

Although the Bahamas is a chain of 700 islands in the sun, each one exhibits its own distinct personality. Eleuthera is no exception.

Eleuthera, this noble island known as “The Land of Freedom,” offers a life of simplicity…..no stress, no strain, no struggle…no problem! Kind and hospitable Eleutherians are a synthesis of various peoples and cultural dialects resulting from a unique blend of American, European, and Carib-bean essence. We are outgoing, friendly, and very warm and inviting to

our guests.Even the land itself calls visits to relax, release, and be rejuvenated. Here, pink and white powder beaches stretch along our shores, waiting to be enjoyed. Balmy breezes blow gently and the wind seems to whisper each listener’s name. For the blessed visitors reaching the Eleuthera mainland, Harbour Island or Spanish Wells, the natural landscape and the natural charm of our people will not disappoint. And at the end of your stay, you will know that you are always welcome in this land of beauty and leisure.Jacqueline H. GibsonManager, Eleuthera Tourist Office

in The Bahamas ispossible

It is a dream of almost everyone who visits the islands of The Bahamas to

own a piece of island life. They desire to make The Bahamas ‘home’ instead of just a place to visit. There’s hope in sight as The Bahamas Government has come up with a plan in an effort to make tourists dreams a reality. With this new plan, foreigners can now purchase land in the Baha-mas through the International Persons Landholding Act. This allows tourists to legally purchase land receive benefits such as a possible consideration for Permanent Residency if the home built is worth more than $500,000 However, as the Baha-mas is only an archipelago with a finite amount of land available, the value of land increases as the supply becomes limited. Nevertheless, there are bonuses for wanting to build and live in the Bahamas. They include no taxes on

It’s as easy as picking up the phone and making an appointment. Agents will be available to you and show you how The Bahamas is really the greatest place on earth. The residents of the Bahamas proud-ly boast of the high standard of living enjoyed here from the people, the climate, its’ close proximity to the U.S., to a stable government and many more advantages. Just pick up the phone to in-quire about purchasing a second home in one of the Bahamas’ islands, from any of the agencies listed under the BREA, and make the dream of own-ing a piece of paradise a reality! Church ServicesWesley Methodist ChurchTarpum Bay Tarpum Methodist Church is believed to be the oldest church in the settlement. It was erected in 1809 by Rev. Turton. Methodist Work initially began in Tarpum Bay in 1806 by Rev. Turton. By 1812 three quarters of the inhabitants were member of the Tarpum Bay Security. This did not last long and it was not until a new wooden chapel was built in 1837 that encouraged signs in morals, and spiritual depths of Church attendance were seen. St. Patrick’s Anglican (Episcopal) Church Dedicated in 1892 with its histor-ic pipe organ, beautiful tabernacle (which is the most beautiful in the country), and gothic architecture, is one of the favorite tourist attractions.
