Their shelter is plants, trees, and grass. Some elephants sleep standing up or sleep lying down. How Elephants Eat Elephants eat trees and plants. A baby elephant weighs about 250 pounds when it is young. The baby elephant is about the size of a tall horse. They live up two about 70 years old.
