• Provides total annual cash remuneration for a wide spectrum of engineering positions

• Helps association members develop effective compensation plans for their professional engineering employees

• Added a new “Architects” family to the questionnaire (four levels, two specialties: industrial, landscape)

• Added two specialities to the 100 series (Engineers): Metallurgy, Piping

• Added four specialties to the 200 series (Engineering Technicians/Technologists): Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural

• Pre-populated questionnaires will be provided to 2012 participants

• Results will be available in WIN for the first time this year

Typical dutiesTypical duties• Develops solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Assists with coordination of

project design, develops creative-design concepts for projects and prepares presentation and design drawings. Follows established procedures. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Proficiency with drafting software and architectural presentation software may be required to perform assigned tasks.

Decision makingDecision making• Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, handling deviations from standard methods

and resolving difficulties. Difficult, complex or unusual problems or decisions are typically referred to more senior architects. Determines work procedures and makes recommendations for improvements. Able to lead small projects with minimal supervision, coordinate consultants and work directly with clients.

Supervision receivedSupervision received• Works under general supervision. Work is assigned in terms of specific objectives. Guidance is provided for review of

designs and unusual features. Completed work is normally accepted as technically accurate and is reviewed only for feasibility and soundness of judgment.

Supervision exercisedSupervision exercised• May provide technical guidance and supervision to designers/drafters and less experienced architects. May coach

other team members.

Entrance qualificationsEntrance qualifications• Approximately 5-7 years experience as a designer. Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, or equivalent. Typically
