Cartouche-Oval shaped name plate for a king

-Symbolic of everything that the sun encircled, depicting king’s rule of cosmos

-Known in Ancient Egypt as “Sheni” which means to encircle

-Symbol to ward off bad luck for king

-Name “cartouche” came from Napoleon’s soldiers who thought they looked like cartridges or “cartouches” from their guns
