AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution is the introduction of particulates, biological molecules, or other harmful materials into the Earth's atmosphere, possibly causing disease, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as food crops, or the natural or built environment.

ACID RAIN

Acid rain describes any form of precipitation with high levels of nitric and sulfuric acids. It can also occur in the form of snow, fog, and tiny bits of dry material that settle to Earth.

Acid rain was first detected by Robert Angus Smith in 1872.

OZONE POLLUTION

The emissions from automobile traffic are the

main contributors to ozone pollution. Ozone

pollution is created when certain chemicals in auto

emissions interact with heat and sunlight.

Emissions from certain manufacturing operations

also contribute to ozone pollution.

What is Greenhouse effect in atmosphere ?

Page 10: Effects of air pollution

GLOBAL WARMING Global Warming is the increase of Earth's

average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. This is a type of greenhouse effect.

EFFECTS OF METHYL ISOCYANATE GAS

Methyl isocyanate is a colorless highly flammable liquid that evaporates quickly when exposed to the air. It has a sharp, strong odor. Methyl isocyanate is used in the production of pesticides, polyurethane foam, and plastics.

Respiratory problems.

Pregnancy problems in women.

EFFECTS OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL WITH RESPECT TO THE CHERNOBYL DISASTER Affect the aquatic life.

Thyroid cancer among increased drastically.

Psychological disorders started increasing.

Major congenital malformation and stillbirths.

Deaths due to cancer, cryptogenic abnormalities.
