    Important announcement!

    The Neonatal and Obstetric Departments o the Simpson Centre orReproductive Health are combining with Research Scientists rom the

    Queens Medical Research Institute (QMRI) in an exciting new venture:

    the frst Edinburgh Perinatal Festival Conerence.

    This conerence will be a 2-day event in the outstanding new acilities o

    the John McIntyre Centre, Pollock Halls, Edinburgh.

    The principal sponsor o the Festival conerence will be PiggyBankKids

    which unds the excellent research carried out in the Jennier Brown

    Research Laboratory, in the QMRI.

    The event is aimed at Neonatologists, Obstetricians and anyone working

    in the feld o Perinatology, including Research Scientists, Midwives and

    Neonatal Nurses. There will be extended times or discussion ater each

    lecture. There will also be expert Perinatal debates which will stimulate agreat deal o interest in the audience.

    We are delighted to announce that Proessor Caroline Crowther

    (Australia) and Proessor Roger Soll (United States) have agreed to be our

    distinguished speakers rom overseas. We are also very ortunate that

    Proessor Colin Morley, Dr. Mandi de Mestre, Proessor Henrik Hagberg,

    Proessor Donald Peebles, Proessor Kate Costeloe, and Dr Nicola Sibson

    will be among those giving plenary lectures. All have been chosen or their

    groundbreaking new research and their outstanding presentation skills.

    Further research work will be presented as plenary talks or posters. There

    will be generous prizes or the trainees who provide the best talk and best

    poster o the meeting.

    There will also be plenty o opportunities or un. Edinburgh is a antastic

    city, and the weather is guaranteed to be excellent in late May. Delegates

    will enjoy the history, architecture, paintings, sculptures and music which

    characterise the city. Some may wish to travel urther afeld to the nearby

    hills and seashores or a more extended visit. On the evening o 27th May

    there will be a Ceilidh during which our guests will sample Scottish cuisine

    and will be entertained by Scottish music and poetry. There will also be

    compulsory Scottish Country Dancing ater dinner!Please put this important event in your diaries now. We want this frst

    Festival to be a great success, providing opportunities or learning, sharing

    data, building new research partnerships and cementing riendships.
