    1. Produce a media-rich digital story about a significantlocal event based on first-person interviews. (1,2,3,4)

One activity that I would have my class do is create a newscast about anevent that occurred on campus. Students can write the stories, interviewother students and faculty, learn how to digitally edit their stories andother content, and then present to the other classes.

Another activity could be the production of a digital newsletter. Students

can write stories, interview local members of the community, upload digitalphotos and scanned images and edit the newspaper themselves. Studentscould finish by printing their newsletter and passing them out and emailingthem to other classmates.

    2. Use digital-imaging technology to modify orcreate works of art for use in a digital presentation.

(1,2,6) One activity my students could do

is take all of artwork that they

have made throughout the year, scan those images onto acomputer, then create a slideshow(using Power Point or other web-based applications) to present tothe class.

Another activity I could do withmy students is using a digital

camera to create a cartoon basedon a story we read as a class.Using stop-motion photography Iwould have my students createframes of a story. Next usingdigital photo editing software

they could piece together theirframes creating a cartoon toshare with the class.

    5. Identify and investigate a global issue andgenerate possible solutions using digital tools and

resources (3,4) I would have my students pick a global issue, say global warming. First I

would have them do internet searches related to the topic, investigating

exactly what global warming is and what the causes are. Next I would havemy students search the internet for what our city is doing to fight theeffects of global warming. After learning what our city does to fight globalwarming I would have the students research electronically what we can doas a class to help. With that research the class may want to start acomposting bin for our class.

    7. Conceptualize, guide, and manage individual orgroup learning projects using digital planning tools

with teacher support. (4,6) In my classroom I would first have the students create a class blog, which

they could post daily journals, artwork, and various other class-related

material. Also on that blog I would post the directions for an in-class groupassignment. Students would have to access the blog, get the step by stepdirections from my posting in order to complete the assignment. Theassignment would only be in-class so that those without home computerswould still be able to receive full credit. I would also have a class calendarposted on the blog that I would update daily for parents and students to

    access.
