About the UPSE

• The University of the Philippines School of Economics (UPSE), located at the UP Campus in Diliman, was established in 1965 by merging the Department of Economics, previously a part of the College of Business Administration, and the Institute of Economic Development and Research (IEDR), previously a separate unit of the University. The IEDR has since been renamed the Economics Research Center (ERC) which directs the School’s research activities.

University of the Philippines School of Economics. In its 30 years of existence, SIDHI has been a crucial factor in creating an informed student body regarding the issues in and out of the School. It has been a venue for the students to veto apathy, speak their minds, and take action against any repression. Furthermore, SIDHI symbolizes the fearless voice of reason of every young economist. Social consciousness is envisioned in such individual. It forms more than character and captures the independence, confidence, and sense of being of a thinker. The depth of both emotion and logic are intertwined to form a creative Iskolar ng Bayan and a courageous Filipino.
