Hello ecosocers! Welcome to a new school year! And with the first semester comes…. (wait for it…) ECOSOC MONTH!!!!!! This ECOSOC MONTH is going to be LEGENDARY!! WTF!Oo, alam kong hindi bagay sa ‘kin magmura. HAHAHA

But before you judge me for saying that, let me tell you what it really means.

W.T.F. = We’re Task Force.Normally, I wouldn’t have to say or reiterate that we

are the Task Force committee. But for this semester, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce to you the Task Force 10: Thea, Kim, KevinG, Dhiren, Jo, RJ, Misha, Mark, Myra, Hazel, Jess, AC, Norika, Elwin, Ralph, Kenna, Kenneth, Jeremae, KevinE, Horace, Avril, Irene, Geoff, Gilbert, Alex, Bing, Mik, Trixie, Angeli, Simone, Von, Cathy, Pai, Ryan, Faye!

Ecosoc, this is the team that will revive, redefine and revolutionize the Taskforce we all know. This is the team of many firsts: the first to have a vision for the future TF teams, the first to have a scholar-centered event, the first that will reach the 200,000 mark and the first to have a “stimulation”

for its members. And I am very proud to be part of this team of firsts. J

“Best ever. To be the best.” Valid claims, yes; but unfortunately, our goal this

semester is not to be the best. Being the best entails comparing one’s self with others who are inferior. Is this really what we want ourselves to be? No. We are better than wanting to be the best. It is not our goal to be the best. Instead, we desire to be in a league of our own, sans any comparison to anybody. In an altogether different league, we challenge ourselves to define our own standards - - without reference to what we have done, what others have done and what others are doing.

WTF. We are Task Force. Not the best, but the one and only Task Force of Ecosoc. This semester, we aim to share this pride with all of Ecosoc. You may not be part of Task Force, but we hope to inspire you with what we do, which is what Ecosoc stands for – sociocivic.

WTF! I’m proud of Task Force – I’m part of TF. I’m part of The Family. J

you for a wonderful first term! I feel that we have achieved a lot of our annual goals and it’s all because of our teamwork and excellent group dynamics. I’m looking forward to a semester of actualization, even more fun, kilig moments *ehemdeanehemellaehem* and creativity! GO EXECOM-pleto!!

This semester, we ecosoc, will reaffirm our identity as a socio-civic organization. We are to strive to understand that when we say socio-civic, we just don’t mean cdc activities but rather we must maintain a mindset that what we do, all our activities, are for nation building as well. We train our members to be productive citizens of our country, we encourage high school students to think critically through nyc, we tutor our scholars to become the next gen of isko and iskas among others. With this mindset I believe that the essence of our existence as an organization is validated and strengthened as we move forward as an organization.

“A smile on the face is a sign that the heart is at home.”Welcome to Blueprint, Ecosoc! Smile! :)Expect an exciting line-up of events from Externals this

sem! Social awareness is the key. In line with our theme of

going back to our civic roots, Externals is launching an Essay Writing Contest open to high school students this August.

Also this August, let us open our tambayan once again to our Econ family. Fall in love with CAP, DebSoc, ETC, OBEM, RVC, Sidhi and SESC with this year’s FRIENDSHIP WEEK. Love knows no (tambayan) boundaries.

Watch out for a cooler TAMBAY TUESDAY! Are you ready to see your future? See what the stars have lined up for you this September!

And since both the presidents of PhilCES and JPES are from our org, let’s be super duper active! Let’s aim for the Best Member Org Award! Yay! To my reps, continue working hard for these orgs. I have a surprise for you this July!

Hellooo Externals! Let’s build windows and bridges this semester! Annika, good luck with your thesis. Cheska, I love

that even if you’re not in Econ you’re still super active. Chila, it’s time to get wild! Darrel, don’t be so stressed with the JPES presidency. Dhiren, I am amazed by the work you’ve shown so far. Wow. Hannah, good job with the ballers! May future ka sa sales. Kacel, bonding time na please! Leila, ang hot mo. Magpakita ka naman! Leus, stay bibbo and fun okay. Menay, I still consider you as my mem. I miss you. Miko, thanks for doing the video. Keep on “sparkling.” Patty, super good job with Eventology! Galing mo. Reg, stop studying and start partying! Tikay, thanks for being so dependable always. Yay. WilJ, bawal malandi!

Hello to my X-apps: Larz, Joan, Joanne, Quek, Ria, Shelly, Tong and Yen-Yen! Don’t defer, okay? You’ll love Ecosoc, promise!

Cliquish, I love you all. I may not show it kasi I’m always bitchy (haha sorry!) but I really do. Thank you for everything!

Till the next issue,Ella Parel: Building, pero bawal mag-assume.

This semester, let the Academic Affairs Committee take you on a wild, yet intellectually stimulating ride across countries, cultures and ideas. We’ll start in South Africa and the World Cup with Ushindi: The 2010 Recognition Day, which happens right after we distribute this copy of Echoes. So, if you’re reading this during the event, stop it! Next, we’ll take you into the rainforest, to infinity, and beyond with The Green Light Project: Moving Markets Towards Environmental Sustainability. This is a joint project with the SESC, and the EDRES councilor and insanely proud acad member Chiara “chi_coks” Cokieng. Then we’ll go down get the lowdown in my hometown at the Jologs Quiz Bee, which will be spearheaded by the Acad apps: Juliet, Sam, Cid, Leo, Neil, Daryl, and Rojen. Have fun with your app process and

always do your best!Of course, I cannot accomplish any of this with

out my fantastic Acad team. My VC’s for this sem are Reuel “The Animal” Realin and Diane “DV” Vitriolo. My members are Marian T., Cheenie, Von, Jess, Junjie, Chicoks again, Irene, Kimmie, Gab Sollano aka GaSol, Therese, Nikko, Horace, Nads, Nikko and Zim. Thank you for choosing Acad. I am very, very grateful, and fortunate. Remember UAE all the way! United Acad of Ecosoc!

Again, let Acad take you for a ride.Sit back and enjoy.

Helloooooo! Kamusta kayong lahat? Haha!Thank you sa lahat ng mga members na nag-participate

actively sa lahat ng mga activities ng CDC last semester. Sobrang marami kayong napangiti and natulungan. Be proud sa mga nagagawa niyo and never forget our responsibility as UP students. It’s a whole new sem and there’s still so much that we can do! As we go through each of our days, let us not forget that we are a socio-civic organization and that we joined ECOSOC because we believe in our thrusts of service, excellence, and tradition.

Sa mga apps, I hope matutunan niyong lahat ung love para sa mga ginagawa natin. Once magets niyo kung ano talaga ang ECOSOC, I doubt babagsak kayo sa app process. Good luck sa inyo! J

This semester, our Monday tutorials will be held at the Ugnayan Center of Brgy. Pook Palaris. We will tutor some of the students from this community and help them better understand their lessons in Math and English. Some of them don’t know how to add or subtract yet, or even write their

own names properly. You might be the one who can teach them how so please do sign up for our Monday tutorials. J

If you haven’t read the new Monday CDC guidelines on the CDC board, please basahin mo na. Seryoso. Hahaha.

Our Saturday Day Care will be more fun this sem! CDC Mini-Treasure Hunt and Race of Thunder will now be during our Saturday CDC sessions. O ‘di ba? Attend na kayo Saturday CDC’s! Bawal malate!

Pwedent bumati? Hahaha! Anj! Chare! Early! Geli! Kyla! Stef! Will! XP! Welcome

Hello Ecosoc! It’s already been a month since the first day of classes, but it’s been a very slow start for most of us. Now that reports, cases (naks) and theses are piling up, it’s time to get down to business.

This semester, Echoes has a lot in store for Ecosoc. We’ll have our three regular releases (July 14, August 25, Induction Ball) and a CDC Field Trip on September 4. Most importantly, Echoes will release a Socio-Civic Special Edition. This full-length issue, to be released on September 8, is meant to be an examination of Ecosoc’s socio-civic blueprint: how we as Ecosocers understand our nature and how the rest of the world views us in relation to this, the history of our socio-civic involvement, and the future of our cause.

Unfortunately, we’re also self-imposing budget cuts so more funds can be allotted for other, admittedly, more important Ecosoc projects. To compensate, we’ll continue sending Online and Alumni Editions via email, and we’ll put up an Echoes wall in the tambayan (where partial copies of the issues will be posted). We’ll also return to full grayscale

for our issues, except for the tambayan copies. However, if you want a guaranteed copy of Echoes with a colored cover, you may subscribe for only P100 (for all three releases) and P40 (for a single release). Just contact Ben Bismark for subscriptions.

Please support IT MIGHT BE YOU! Reuel and Noreen, Josh and Patty, Jason and Von, Kevin and Simone, Alex, Kat, Gab, and Dean and Ella are really good people—help them find someone who’ll be good for them.

Lastly, allow me to greet my hard-working, critical, and talented editors: Mia, Ben, Kenneth, Jes, Tin, and our newest editor, Kevin! We still have a lot to improve on in terms of our work and our team, but thank you for always being so generous and understanding of my shortcomings. To the Echoes apps Bea, Deo, Josh, Josiah, and Matt, I look forward to working with you this semester! You’ll have a bright future in Ecosoc if you are willing to work for your membership and embrace what it truly stands for.

That’s all for now! Enjoy reading the rest of the issue!

Welcome to the new sem, everyone! I assure you that every execommer has come back older and wiser. I have come back the oldest but I assure you, age is but a number and I assure everyone, that I am still a child! *laughs*

I write here before you bringing news of a new SPEV! If last year we had the wildest people alive, we have a new look for Ecosoc…SpEv is SUPAH FEYURS! SpEv has not lost it’s swagger! We come back a solid committee made of some of the most vibrant personalities in Ecosoc…Econ…UP!

Enter Andre! The biggest celebrity this side of Lady Gaga, the outspoken debutant that has a way with words, and people, and words about people.

Then there’s Jason, Vice Man! His power and passion compensate for all the testosterone lost from our graduates.

Returning mems: Lia, Myra, Kat, Kelvin, Ralph, Reine, Sue, Angelica, Rick. I’m sure this sem will be better if not as FUN, FUN, FUN as the last one. Because you guys won’t let that happen, right?

New guys: Maika, Chrissa, Noreen (though luma ka na), RJ, Sol and Steven. I like what I’m seeing so far! I’m just gonna put it out there and make a bold prediction! This team is better than last.

To my apps: Romano, Risa, Ryna, Zia, Just, Jill, Norbert Peter Indunan. Wag kayo matakot sa amin, adjustment period lang to. After a few weeks you’ll be laughing like retards with us.

To everyone reading this, get ready for a great sem!

P.S. Please support your committee reps for Ecosoc’s Next Top Model… With money!

Hi guys! J It’s a brand new semester and it’s a time for change. If last semester we focused more on fitness and wellness, then this semester we would focus more on different kinds of SPORTS! First of all, get ready for MBA. Expect a lot of varied games and of course the return of old time classics like Balloon Wars. (Laurence knows this from experience… Haha!) Also, get ready for the much awaited Sports Cup! This would be a time for all Ecosocers to showcase all their talents and skills. And it could also train all of us for Schoolympics (plug for the SAC councilor). Who will be the King of the jungle, the Red Eagle, Green Lion, Blue Shark or the Yellow Duck? We will know this sem! Also, always look at the sports board for some wellness and sports tips this semester. This would be replaced constantly so that all of you could be kept updated with your sporting and health needs.

All these wouldn’t be possible without team SPORTS! Hi to Anjo, Bianca, Cello, Henry, Issay, John Gan, Josh, Karlo, Cheyence, Cocoy, Dave, Kevin G., Kim, Mik, and Ray. Guys, we are one of the coolest sports committee ever! Also, I would like to say hi to the new applicants of SPORTS! Hi to Hari, Janina, John, JP, JR, Miguel, Ria, and Topy! Hope you find your application process fun and exciting (and since you are in Sports, I know you will!!)

Hope all of us could get a blast from this new semester and have fun! (Not too much fun) “Hehehehe” (quote from Henry)

P.S. SPORTS got this!! (with my odd hand gesture…Haha! J)
