Introducing mobile loyalty cards

What are mobile loyalty cards? This Textlocal service gives you the ability to create your own fully branded loyalty cards as a mobile page which can be sent out via a text message, directly or as an automated response to an inbound/opt-in SMS. It will contain a unique code, bar code and/or QR code which can be scanned multiple times, with built in alerts for rules & rewards. This means that your customers can safely store their loyalty cards on their mobile phones, making the cards always available to be scanned on every purchase, visit or order.

In a nutshell, how do they work? • Create and design the mobile loyalty card in your Messenger account • Include a unique code for each recipient, including an optional bar

code or QR Code, plus any images and branding you wish • Select who you want to send it to • Redeem loyalty cards by entering the unique code in your Messenger

account or scanning the bar code or QR code via our mobile App

Why mobile? • No equipment or software is needed, all you need is your Messenger

Creating your loyalty card

Select this option on the create new ticket tab. You set the rules, choose how many times the voucher can be scanned and what message you want to pop up and when. For example, it could be ‘this is the customers 6th visit – they are entitled to a free coffee!’

You can enter an expiry date for your loyalty card. This helps you maintain strict terms and conditions of usage for any offers and promotions you run.

Getting started

If you have already created your own unique codes, select ‘Use this and I have my own codes’ and follow the instructions. If you do not have your own codes, click ‘use this option’ and easily create unique codes with millions of permutations in a few steps.

If you use option 2, remember this is a great way to build your opt-in database to target with specialised offers at a later date

STEP ONE - CHOOSE YOUR PROCESS Select if you want to send your loyalty card unique code and link directly to your existing database (option 1) or as an automatic response for one of your inbound numbers (option 2). The link enables customers to download Passbook/Passwallet version directly to their iPhone or Android phones.

STEP TWO - CHOOSE YOUR CONTACTS Choose the contact group you want to send your card to, or select ‘Create a new group’ and upload your contacts as normal. Selecting the contacts at this stage means that the system knows who to allocate the unique codes to as it generates them.

STEP THREE: DEFINE YOUR UNIQUE LOYALTY CARD CODE FORMAT You are able to do this by including: • Numbers • Letters • Code prefix • Code suffix • Code length

Messenger will give you an example of what your code looks like and how many permutations are available (it’s billions!). This unique code will appear on the text messages you send. Use the code prefix and suffix to brand the ticket/voucher the way you like.

STEP FOUR: DEFINE YOUR CUSTOM FIELDS Select what custom field you would like to save the unique codes to. If you are sending a brand new loyalty card make sure you choose to override any existing codes.

Customising your mobile loyalty card

STEP FIVE: CUSTOMISE YOUR MOBILE LOYALTY CARD WEB PAGE The left hand side of your screen will show a preview of what your voucher or ticket looks like. On this page you will choose: • Your redemption methods – passbook, QR code and barcode • Page content – title, text, footer, logos, merge fields and color scheme.

What is Passbook?

STEP SIX: DESIGN / EDIT YOUR PASSBOOK TEMPLATE If you have chosen to include Passbook you will now be prompted to design a new one or duplicate an existing one. Here you can either edit and duplicate an existing passbook template or design a brand new passbook template.

Setting up your rules and rewards

STEP SEVEN –MAKING THE RULES

When redeeming any kind of loyalty card, Messenger will notify you straight away if the coupon code is valid and how many times it has been redeemed. You can also set up rules for actions to happen at a certain number of scans.

Schedule an SMS for a few hours after a scan to gather feedback using our survey tool

Whatever you choose to offer your customers when they scan, there’s a range of actions Messenger can perform: Display a message on screen with instructions of the reward Send a text, either to the card holder or to any other number you

specify Send an email Hook into your systems with a URL call QR codes and barcodes can be included in any outgoing message

The system is flexible to your requirements, so you can set up rewards for an infinite number of scans, or choose to have the rules repeat after X amount of scans.

There are a number of ways you can redeem a loyalty card. The two main ones are through your Textlocal Messenger account and through the Textlocal Messenger mobile app.

Redeeming your card

MESSENGER REDEMPTION In the ‘Tickets’ menu option, select ‘Redeem Ticket’ and then enter the loyalty card code.

The screen will display any messages you’ve included to be shown at this point, as well as details about the scan and the customer.

MESSENGER MOBILE APP REDEMPTION If you use the Messenger app to redeem, you can either scan the QR code and/or barcode on the loyalty card, or enter the code manually.

If you’ve set up a display message for this scan, this will pop up on screen now. As well as this, the app will confirm that the loyalty card was scanned successfully and lets you know how many times it has been redeemed.

If the loyalty card is invalid, an error message will occur, so you can be sure you’re only giving loyalty scheme rewards to valid customers

Reporting In Messenger, you can see reports on loyalty card scans. The codes will be grouped together showing the most recent scan first. You can also search for codes that have been scanned and specify a date range in which to search.

You can export the data for further analysis if required. This data will include the number of times each loyalty card has been validated and the time & date of the most recent validation. You can also export non-redeemers, so you can target these people individually.
