EARLY MATTERS E-NEWSLETTER April 15th, 2015 Another Milestone As parents, grandparents, or loved ones of children with Down syndrome, we love to celebrate each milestone that our children reach. For me, with my typical children, I do not remember celebrating the first time they used their pincer grasp. I do, however, remember celebrating this when Ashton learned. Even these smaller milestones mean so much. I may have a short celebration with my husband or just through my own thoughts, but these are important milestones to remember. (I only wish I wrote them down!) Rayne and her family are celebrating her first day at school and her very first bus ride! This, of course, is a major milestone. This may be a milestone that we celebrate, yet get a little emotional about too. In Kishawna’s (Rayne’s mom) words, I am so proud of her but so scared at the same time. I just want to protect her and now I have to let her go so she can be a big girl!” I completely understand Kishawna! The time flies by so savor these moments. Congratulations Rayne!!!! EARLY MATTERS E-NEWSLETTER

April 15th, 2015

Another Milestone

As parents, grandparents, or loved ones of children with Down syndrome, we love

to celebrate each milestone that our children reach. For me, with my typical

children, I do not remember celebrating the first time they used their pincer grasp.

I do, however, remember celebrating this when Ashton learned. Even these

smaller milestones mean so much. I may have a short celebration with my

husband or just through my own thoughts, but these are important milestones to

remember. (I only wish I wrote them down!)

Rayne and her family are celebrating her

first day at school and her very first bus

ride! This, of course, is a major milestone.

This may be a milestone that we celebrate, yet get a little emotional

about too. In Kishawna’s (Rayne’s mom) words, “I am so proud of

her but so scared at the same time. I just want to protect her and

now I have to let her go so she can be

a big girl!” I completely understand

Kishawna! The time flies by so savor

these moments.

Congratulations Rayne!!!!

New Classes & Social Opportunities in 2015 The structure for the classes offered is changing for the year of 2015. I am excited because I

think we will see awesome results at the end of each class. Let me explain...so in past years

we have offered one class per month. This

year, we are going to offer the classes in

clusters. Each cluster may have a different

number of weeks attached to that class. For

instance, the Physical Therapy Class is

starting in April. This class will be for 6

weeks, every Thursday evening starting April

16th, 2015.

There will be a very small fee attached to the

classes offered. There may also be a lottery

draw system. More information and/or to

register on-line at www.dsagc.com/programs

or contact me directly ([email protected] or 513.761.5400). We will then draw names to

fill the class. We will contact you either way if you were drawn or not. It’s that simple! :)

We all love to see pictures! If you

would like to introduce your child to

the Early Matters group then please

send me the pictures and a little

blurb about them. Be sure to

include names and ages!

I like to do spreads around the

holidays so any Easter bunny

pictures, or “Firsts” i.e. first haircut

or first time eating solids, or just

really cute pictures that you have

taken. Please email these pictures

to Jena Wells at

[email protected].
