The New Mexico PreK Observational Assessment Tools includes 7 domains which are designed to align to state and national standards for early childhood:

• Physical Development, Health and Well Being – coordination, hygiene, safety

• Literacy – listening, language, reading and writing• Numeracy and Spatial Relationships – counting, shapes,

sorting and measurement• Aesthetic/Creativity – art, music and movement• Scientific/Conceptual Understanding - investigation of

the physical and natural worlds• Self, Family & Community – appropriate behavior, social

skills and being a part of a group• Approaches to Learning -– independence, problem-

solving, thinking and perseverance
