Types of paragraphs

A text mixes the paragraphs according to the need for the theme. There are 3 different kinds of paragraphs:• By location• By content.• By logical structure.

1. By location

1.1 Opening Paragraph:• this paragraph introduces the text, it

presents the thesis and catches the reader’s attention.

• Sometime is better to write this paragraph at the end.

1.1 Opening paragraph

1.1.1 Synthesis: It summarizes text or the thesis.

1.1.2 Interrogative phrases: this poses the problem to develop in the text. there may be several interrogative sentences. The first shows the main idea and the others show the other important aspects.

1.1.3 Anecdote: the idea to show a tale is to catch and imply the reader.

1.1.4 Appointment : It's possible to use appointments just if they join with the text.

By Location1.2 Transition Paragraph:

• It serves to change the topic, to continue it and to move from one place to another.

• It is important to use connectors as accordingly, also, in spite of the above, however, thus finally by then.

1.3 Closing Paragraph:• It summarizes the general meaning of the text, gives a

concrete sense, commonly it offers theme conclusions.

2. By content

2.1 Supporting Paragraph:• It presents an idea to convince that refuse or say.

2.2 Conceptual or Definition Paragraph:It defines the meaning of a term or focus a thought that will be used later.

2.3 Chronological Paragraph: It refers temporal succession of an event.

2.4 Enumeration Paragraph: It has an organizing phrase helps the reader indicating the order of the text.

2.5 Descriptive Paragraph : It describes the object, person or place or situation that is going to talk. It must be made from the particular to the general, from the internal to the external

2.6 Explanatory Paragraph

It clarifies and develops the theme widely presented.

2.7 Expository Paragraph

It presents the information in an organized.

2.8 Narrative paragraph

This exposes an idea following a temporary order, events, actions.

3. By Logical Structure3.1 Comparative Paragraph

It is the expression of similarities or differences between two objects or phenomena.

3.2 Cause-effect Paragraph

It presents an event followed by the reasons that have caused or the consecuencias that flow from it.

3.3 Paragraph of Approach and Problem Resolution

It is divided in two parts

• In the first it is exposed the problem clearly.

• In the second the solution of the problem is presented.

3.4 Sequence or Process Paragraph

A series of events or a process are described in some kind of order.

3.5 Deductive ParagraphFirst a generalization is made to finally present the specific case.

3.6 Inductive ParagraphPrincipal at the end idea. It begins with sentences that express secondary ideas to reach a generalization or thematic idea.

3.7 Concluding ParagraphIt is used to end or close an issue. It uses expressions like In conclusion, in short, of all the above we can conclude that, therefore and so on.
