GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 1) This is required for Operation Theatre Complexes, Surgical I.C.U. and Wards in newly constructed

250 bedded hospital. 2) QUANTITIES given along with of all items are approximate, may vary actually. To be calculated and

finalised after ACTUAL SITE VISIT and and AS PER USER DEPARTMENT’S REQUIREMENT. 3) QUALITY Certification from Authentic Authority is MANDATORY where ever required. All the items

should comply with ISO 7396-1 / HTM / NFPA with CE-certification (device class – II b) in accordance with the European Directive 93/42/EEC (medical devices).

7 Pipe clamps Shall be non-reactive to copper and be of non-ferrous or non-deteriorating plastic suitable for the diameter of the pipe

8 Pipeline supports Spacing not to exceed 1.5M, Irrespective of the pipe diameter. 9 Passage through

coding To mark with the name and / or symbol adjacent to shut-off valves, at the junctions and the changes of direction, before and after walls and partitions, etc. at the intervals of no more that 10M and adjacent terminal units.

13 Post-installation After erection, the pipelines are to be flushed and purged clean with dry nitrogen gas.

14 Testing Pressure testing using dry nitrogen gas at 1.5 times the working pressure for at least 24 hours. System should exhibit its integrity and no-leakage. All contraindications, if any to be carefully examined, problems diagnosed and necessary examined, problems diagnosed and necessary rectifications / Substitutions carried out, and test repeated after re-purging the lines.

15 Test documentation and witnessing

All test, including failed tests, to be documented covering all the details. The Engineer shall witness the tests and receive the documents.

Providing and laying of Pipelines. 1) The successful tenderer shall be responsible for designing and laying of medical gas pipeline. The

design shall be in accordance with HTM 0102 and such that all the outlet points shall have required pressure and flow rate. Further, care shall be taken that layout of pipelines shall not disturb the existing hospital systems working.

2) The quantities mentioned in the Schedule of Quantities are approximate hence it is mandatory to quote per unit /running foot price for each item.

3) Certification of the pipes shall be attached along with tender. 4) Each Copper Pipe shall have its respective thicknesses and diameters mentioned/marked on the

pipe itself and also the lot/batch of testing. (e.g. 22mm x 0.9mm, EN13348 and batch /lot testing number).

5) Typical chemical composition of the copper shall be Copper Not less than 99.85%. Arsenic not more than – 0.05%, Phosphorous not less than 0.015% and not more than 0.080%. The successful tenderer shall submit the test certificate of chemical composition of the Copper pipes.

Installation: Pipes, fittings and valves shall be degreased and shall be made free of particulate matter and toxic residues before their use. The pipes shall be individually capped at both ends and delivered to the site. P.V.C saddles shall be used for diameters smaller than 28mm OD pipes and powder coated metal saddles shall be used for diameters larger than 35mm OD pipes. The saddles shall be properly mounted on the wall with the help of Screws, brackets or such suitable method. Joints of Pipes shall be made using inert gas flux less brazing method. Joints shall be of copper to copper and shall be brazed by silver brazing filler material without flux. During the process of brazing, the joints will be continuously purged with oil free dry nitrogen to prevent the formation of oxides on the inner surface of the pipe and fittings While laying a copper pipeline from floor to floor, all the pipes shall be encased with suitable size G.I. Pipe. On installation, pipes shall be tested with dry nitrogen at a pressure of 10 Bar for 48 hours along with testing for cross-connection. Painting of the pipes shall be carried out as per IS 2379:1963. All exposed piping shall be properly painted with two coats of Synthetic enamel Paint over a coat of primer after installation.
