Yes!! I've started with Change.org.

However, I'm a bit confused in how to deal with that.

The point is that they are deprecating previous API[1] to manage signing petitions. There was, even, a Javascript API to link their server[2] so the task of developing a Firefox Webextension was pretty simple by using two of them.

The problem is that they have deprecated those APIs, replacing it by just a widget[3] that builds a banner which once clicked throws the browser to their website.

In the other hand, it seems to me that Meetup.org has nice oAuth2 API access, which makes much easier the process.

If you were me, would you still go forward with Change.org even it seems that they don't like it? If yes, I'd need to hack a bit the widget. When I mention in previous emails to you "0-days" approach (nothing about security) I was meaning something like this: they don't provide this funcionality, so the work must be done like a "0days" sploit: examining the code and finding any hole to communicate with backend.

I did not know that change.org had an API before. (I have no way to find out such things.)

I see two solutions:

1. Use the API, then contact them, explain why we can't use the widgets,and ask them to please keep the API working.

2. reverse-engineer their widget and figure out what ajax requests ituses to sign petitions. Then use those -- treat them as an unofficial API.

OF COURSE! We would like to have their cooperation, but we won't giveup merely for lack of their cooperation.

This front-end could be an opportunity to educate them AND the usersabout this issue.

Please do NOT use the term "0-day" in this context. Please do NOT saythings that compare this to security breaking. It ISN'T securitybreaking. If you say things that allude to security breaking in thisdiscussion, that could give people the wrong idea, and they couldcondemn us based on their misunderstanding. That could have resultsthat are bad for us.

We are NOT going to break their security. Our front end will usetheir site to do what they WANT people to do on their site: sign theirpetitions.

The difference will be that it uses our software rather thantheir software.
