Dzongri is situated at an altitude of about 4020 M, in west Sikkim. It offers the trekker a most fascinating close-up view of Kanchenjunga and Mt.
Pandim. To the west rises the long outline of the Kyangla ridge. Dzongri is trekker's paradise. Goecha La is situated at an altitude of about 4940 M. Goecha
La offers a mind catching sight of the mountains like Pandim, Kanchenjunga and the others.
The trek to Dzongri is among the tougher ones in Sikkim. Even the experienced porters and guides get tired
after reaching here. It is recommends trekkers should go for regular fitness exercise before coming for this trek.

Places on the Trek Route...
Yuksom: Yuksom is the end of the motorable road. This is the starting point for treks to Dzongri. A tourist destination on its own right.
Tshoka: Tshoka is 3 km from Yuksom and the last vestige of human habitation on the trek ends here; a circular clearing of land surrounded by steep cliffs on three sides and thinly populated by around 15 Tibetan families. Again, a magnificent view of the mountains waits for you here.
Goechala: The Goechala trek in Sikkim is also one of the most romantic trails the Indian Himalayas has to offer the enchanting walk through the Tshoka Rhododenderon forests, the vast Dzongri and Thansing meadows, the startling blue waters of Samiti lake, the looming presence of Kanchejunga and Pandim, the icy trail to Goechala make lots about the trek very romantic.
When to Visit Dzongri: The best time to visit Dzongri is from mid March-April, and then from September to mid October, so as to avoid snowfall and monsoon rains. Although, owing to high altitude, there is a definite probability of the climate taking unexpected turns during any time of the year.
