ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The 2016 MTS Dynamic Positioning Conference is the best way for

DP stakeholders to keep abreast of the latest technology,

applications and changes affecting Dynamic Positioning. Now in its

21st. year, this is a must-attend event for all professionals actively

involved in DP or interested in gaining a better understanding of this

continually evolving technology.

The Conference starts with a one-day workshop followed by a

two-day technical conference. This provides three days of

informative cutt ing-edge presentations, exhibits, and

opportunities, through social gatherings, for informal discussions

and exchange of knowledge, experience, and lessons learned.

Comprehensive Conference Proceedings are published on the

Internet. This focused conference provides access to key decision-

makers and technology leadership in the Dynamic Positioning

industry, making the MTS DP Conference the world's leading

symposium on Dynamic Positioning.

This year the Technical Committee has put together a diverse and

well-balanced program that focuses on new technology, while

addressing topical issues such as cybersecurity, green initiatives and

asset redeployment. The conference should be of value to all DP

professionals, including designers, engineers, DP operators,

support staff, consultants, class societies, government

organizations and regulatory agencies, and DP vessel managers and

owners.

WORKSHOP

A one-day workshop (see next page) will be held on Monday,

October 10, the day prior to the official start of the Conference.

First held in 2010, these workshops have proved to be both highly

informative and extremely popular.

This year’s workshop will focus on the latest MTS DP Guidance

Documents and will follow a similar format to previous years. Note

that there is limited space available for the workshop, and all

previous workshops sold out. DP Professionals planning to attend

are encouraged to register now. It is anticipated that the workshop

will reach capacity before October.

The cost of attending the Workshop is $150 per person.

CONFERENCE EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT

Register by September 8, 2016 for the Conference early

registration discounted rate of $550 for MTS members and $625

for nonmembers. Registration includes technical sessions, lunch

both days, evening receptions and online access to the Proceedings.

SPONSORS

We are indebted to the many companies who help make this

conference possible through their generous sponsorship.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Chair: Blake Denton, Noble Corporation

Co Chair: Chuck Centore, GATE

The DP Conference workshop has proved to be an extremely popular addition to the Annual Conference. The workshop precedes the

two-day MTS DP Conference and will be held on October 10, 2016 at the WESTIN MEMORIAL CITY Hotel, (same venue as the

conference). This workshop continues to be seen as adding value to the DP community. This view is reflected in the increasing number of

requests to the MTS DP Committee to conduct similar workshops in other areas around the world.

The topics for the 2016 workshop include:

8:00 AM MORNING SESSION

HARNESSING UNUTILIZED POTENTIAL FROM POSITION REFERENCE SENSORS FOR INCIDENT-FREE DP

OPERATIONS/REVIEW OF DRAFT PRS TECHOP

11:45 AM LUNCH

12:30 PM AFTERNOON SESSION

EXPLOIT OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH A REVIEW OF TWO ANNUAL TRIALS CASE STUDIES USING MTS

GUIDANCE

4:30 PM - CONCLUSION OF WORKSHOP

The TECHOP Guidance Documents on POSITION REFERENCE SENSORS will be published and available on the website prior to

October 2016

Participants will review and provide feedback on the draft TECHOP to the Guidance and Standards Sub Committee. Comments will

be addressed and incorporated in the final version of this and other TECHOPs, if relevant.

Workshop attendance is limited to 70. Registration is separate from the Conference registration and is $150 per attendee.

Those Likely to Benefit from the Workshop

Shipyards/DP Vessel Designers, Key DP Equipment Vendors (Embedding the “Design to Test Philosophy In Design”)

 Consultant Community

Representatives from Vessel Owners/Contractors Project teams, Technical department (with accountability for specifying DP

Equipment, FMEAs, Operations)

Representatives from Class and Statutory Bodies (Flag State/Coastal State)

Vessels’ Operational Management teams (Masters, Chief Engineers, Chief Electricians, DPOs)

Representatives from Oil Companies/Operators with accountability for assurance on marine and DP-related matters

Representatives responsible for training personnel/stakeholders engaged in DP operations. (Not limited to DPO training)

The workshop will follow a similar format to previous years with the participants working in small groups of 8 -10 people per table.

Experienced personnel will be available to participate, coach and mentor each group.

Results and conclusions from the workshop will be summarized and presented to the MTS DP Technical Committee and DP

Conference participants at the Conference luncheon on October11, 2016.

Early registration for the DP Conference will open at around 3:30 PM. A reception will be held in the Exhibit Hall

immediately following the conclusion of the Workshop.
