Select the Dwyer Magnehelic® gage forhigh accuracy — guaranteed within 2%of full scale — and for the wide choice ofmodels available to suit your needsprecisely. Using Dwyer's simple,frictionless Magnehelic® movement, itquickly indicates low air or non-corrosivegas pressures — either positive, negative(vacuum) or differential. The designresists shock, vibration and over-pressures. No manometer fluid toevaporate, freeze or cause toxic orleveling problems. It's inexpensive, too.

The Magnehelic® is the industrystandard to measure fan and blowerpressures, filter resistance, air velocity,furnace draft, pressure drop acrossorifice plates, liquid levels with bubblersystems and pressures in fluid amplifieror fluidic systems. It also checks gas-airratio controls and automatic valves, andmonitors blood and respiratorypressures in medical care equipment.

These inexpensive manometersmeasure positive, negative anddifferential pressures. Dwyer Flex-Tube®

U-Tube Manometers combine theinherent accuracy of the simple “U”Tube with the durability of tough, long-lasting plastic construction. Columns areof .375" O.D. flexible and shatter proofclear butyrate tubing. They are easilyaccessible for cleaning. Indicating tube isbacked by white scale channel to providemaximum color contrast. Scales areextruded high impact polystyreneplastic, formed to hold columns inperfect alignment. Stark white scaleshave graduations and numberssilkscreen-printed in black for maximumlegibility.

You can choose from numerous modelsand features including overpressuresafety traps, in full scale ranges from 8"to 36" of water or mercury. Dwyer Mark II series moldedmanometers are of the inclined andinclined-vertical types. The curvedinclined-vertical tube of the Model 25gage provides higher ranges with moreeasily read increments at low readings.The Model 25 is excellent for generalpurpose work.

Installation — Mark II manometers canbe mounted on any vertical surface withthe two mounting screws provided. Abuilt-in spirit level simplifies levelingbefore mounting screws are tightened.Simply fill the reservoir, adjust fluid levelto zero, connect the tubing, and the gageis ready for operation.

The unique electric switch design in the1640 is another Dwyer innovation. TheDwyer Model 1640 Differential PressureSwitch resembles the Series 1630switches. The Model 1640, however, isequipped with a single pole, doublethrow floating contact switch (not snapacting) so it functions as a null switch.

Drawing shows the switching actionschematically. As the diaphragm movesin response to pressure changes, itmoves the floating contact to causeswitching action at two preset pointswith no switching action between thesepoints. The “high” circuit will be closedwhen rising pressure differential reachesthe preset level. The “low” circuit will beclosed when falling pressure differentialreaches the preset level.

A typical example of usage is to positionmotorized dampers when static pressurein a duct system reaches a desiredmaximum and reposition the damperswhen the static pressure falls to a pre-established minimum. By using a pitottube sensing element the Model 1640switch can serve in the same way tocontrol air velocity and maintain aconstant volume of air in a supply duct.

Floating Contact NullSwitch for High and Low Actuation

Typical Wiring Hook-UpRising pressure closes the “high”contact which causes the motor to rotatein a counterclockwise direction.Decreasing pressure closes the “low”contact and causes the motor to rotate ina clockwise direction. When the floatingcontact is in the null zone there is noswitching action and motor is at rest.

Adjustment of the SwitchThe “high” actuation point of the Model1640 switch is indicated on a calibratedscale secured to the transparent rangescrew enclosure. Resetting isaccomplished simply by turning theadjustment screw with a screwdriver tothe desired setting on the scale.

The “low” actuation point is set byadjusting the span of the null by turningthe Span Adjusting Screw on top of theswitch element inside conduit enclosure(See photo).

Gage Fluids Gage fluids in the 3/4 ounce size arefurnished in unbreakable plasticdispenser type bottles. Larger sizes aresupplied in plastic bottles with screwcaps. CAUTION: Use only Dwyer fluidsin Dwyer gages.

Red Gage Oil, .826 sp. gr. The standardfluid for use in inclined manometers,“D” type vertical manometers and allDwyer gages using red oil.

Gage Tubing Clear plastic tubing is easily inspectedand is therefore best for test applicationswhere a possibility of fluid entering thetubing exists. Rubber tubing has lesstendency to kink in storage and occupiesless space, thus is best for portable work.Metal Tubing is recommended forpermanent installations. Double columntubing is used with Mark II manometersand the Wind Speed Indicator.
