Windows Operating System:How to tell via Logos on Left Hand Bottom Corner of Computer Screen:

If the following symbol appears in the bottom left hand corner of the screen, then most likely the computer is running on the Windows XP operating system.

If the symbol appears in the corner but further confirmation is desired, the following steps may be taken:

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. In the System Properties dialog box, click the General tab. Under Computer you will find system type details. If the system is operating on Windows XP, an upgrade to the operating system to Windows

7(minimum) is required. If an operating system upgraded is required, then it is highly recommended to upgrade to the newest version of Windows available. To upgrade the Windows operating system, a user must purchase/download the Windows Software. It is strongly recommended that a user backup all files prior to upgrading the operating system.

If the following symbol appears in the bottom left hand corner of the screen, then most likely the computer is running on the Windows 7 operating system.

If the symbol appears in the corner but further confirmation is desired, the following steps may be taken:

Click Start → Computer. From the menu bar, click System properties to view basic information about your computer. Under System → System type you will find system type details. If the system is operating on Windows 7 or higher, an upgrade is not required but still highly

recommended to the latest Windows operating version. They will just need to check their internet options. Please see section 1.2 on how to walk a user through enabling TLS 1.2.

Mac Operating Systems:To check the operating system on a MAC computer please chose from the Apple menu, choose About This Mac. Your version of OS X appears directly below “OS X”:

To see the build number, click the version number in About This Mac. To find out whether a later version of OS X is available for your Mac, check for software

updates or upgrades, or check the tables below. If you're using the version of OS X that came installed on your Mac, the build number may differ.

For MAC operating systems a minimum of OS X (10.9+) is required. Please follow Apple/MAC guidelines for operating system updates.

Android:To check the operating system, open the “app drawer” (the entire list of apps installed on your phone.) It is typically always a button at the bottom of your home screen, in the center.

Page | 15

Scroll through the list of installed apps and look for an app named “Settings”. Tap the Settings icon to enter Android’s system-wide Settings app.

Scroll down on the Settings screen and look for an “About phone” or “About tablet” option. You’ll usually find this at the very bottom of the main Settings screen, under System.

Page | 16

Look for “Android version” to find the version of Android installed on your device.

The UI will simply display the version number, not the code name — for example, it says “Android 6.0” instead of “Android 6.0 Marshmallow”. A search web search or look up a list of Android codenames will need to be performed if you want to know the code name associated with the version. Here’s a current list:

Android 7.0: Nougat Android 6.0: Marshmallow Android 5.0 – 5.1.1: Lollipop Android 4.4 – 4.4.4: Kit Kat Android 4.1 – 4.3.1: Jelly Bean Android 4.0 – 4.0.4: Ice Cream Sandwich Android 3.0 – 3.2.6: Honeycomb Android 2.3 – 2.3.7: Gingerbread Android 2.2 – 2.2.3: Froyo Android 2.0 – 2.1: Eclair Android 1.6: Donut Android 1.5: Cupcake

Page | 17

For Android operating systems a minimum of version 4.1 is required. To upgrade to a version that supports TLS 1.2, please follow Android guidelines and steps.

iOS(iPad):To confirm or check the version of the iOS operating systems on the iPad, please follow the steps below:

From the Home Screen, tap Settings > General > About. The iOS version of your device should appear on this screen.

Page | 18

For iOS operating systems a minimum of version of iOS 9. Please follow Apple guidelines for operating system updates.
