STATEMENT ABOUT RESEARCH ASSOCIATION

Myself Dr. Vivek Gupta is presently working as Senior Consultant in Interventional Cardiology at

Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. after completing the Fellowship inInterventional Cardiology in Hosptial

Charles Nicolle, Rouen France where I worked for almost two years from 1996-1998. During my young career I have 46 research publication in different International and National Journals and Proceedings of conferences. Research projects

• New Metallic Commissurotome for Mitral valvuloplasty under guidance of Prof Alain Cribier, Rouen France

• Percutaneous Aortic valve Prosthesis for Aortic Stenosis in association of Prof Alain Cribier, Rouen, France.

• New Low Profile Perfusion Balloon Angioplasty catheter-Prontoflex • Angioget: Percutaneous removal of thrombus from pulmonary arteries

(rheolytic thrombectomy) • Long stents (>20 mm)for long de-novo lesions • Stenting for small coronary arteries. • Balloon Angioplasty of Stent Restenosis • Unprotected Left Main Coronary Artery Stenting

Earlier Research projects related to the field of Cardiology and Hematology *Oral Vitamin-E and Oxidative stress in Acute myocardial Infarction *Oxy Free Radicals and Anti Oxidative status in Ischemic Heart disease , *Platelet functions and Cardiovascular disease *Serotonergic mechanisms in Hypertension and Heart failure *Calcium and Hypertension *Bone Marrow Biopsy in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia.

*During my MBBS course - Triple Motor rootlet in Trigeminal ganglion The original article "Effect of Oral Vitamin-E on oxy free radicals in Acute

myocardial Infarction" is of special significance. Till recently the oxy free radicals were recognized only in the pathogenesis of reperfusion linked myocardial injury. However, this research has clearly shown for the first time that the oxy free radicals are also elevated in the ischemic injury of acute myocardial infarction and that the oral administration of vitamin-E may be useful in limiting the ischemic injury during the attack.

Our article "Percutaneous rheolytic thrombectomy: A new treatment for

severe pulmonary embolism" has been recently published as original article in Circulation. It has been shown for the first time that Angioget may help in treatment of massive pulmonary embolism refractroy to fibrinolysis.

Page 36: Dr. Vivek Gupta - internationaluniversity-schoolofmedicine.org file1 Brief Biodata Dr. Vivek Gupta Dr. Vivek Gupta is presently working as Senior Interventional Cardiologist in Indraprastha

36

Instent restenosis remains the problem. In our prospectve study we have shown that Balloon angioplasty is effective in the treatment of Instent restenosis with excellent immediate success. However, the recurrent restenosis rates are particularily high.. This study has been published in Indian Heart Journal (Abstract issue 1997)and we submitted original article in JACC.

"Crushing the Undeployed stent by deploying another stent besides it -

Alternative treatment for unretreival and undeployed stent" This article is in Press for publication in Indian Heart Journal. It has been shown for the first time that the undployed and unretrievable coronary stent may be crushed with another stent besides it with good immediate and mid term result.

Countries Visited as Invited Faculty USA France Italy Spain The Netherland Austria Switzerland Belgium Germany Singapore Australia Japan Afghanistan Bangladesh Pakistan Korea Malaysia China Hongkong Egypt Invited Speaker in National Conference In India also he is invited speaker in most of Cardiology Conferences in Bombay, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, New Delhi, Nainital, Mussoorie, Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly, Meerut, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Sitapur, Varanasi, Rohtak, Jaipur, Gwalior etc to name few of them.
