• In 1950 there were only 50 nations and approximately 60 inter-governmental organizations. We now have four times as many nation-states and inter-governmental organizations and an almost exponential growth in the number of NGOs.

• Since 2000, the number of international organizations in the National Center for Charitable Statistics database has nearly doubled.
