As evidence of impact in the area of Research and to indicate the extent to which I have

successfully joined scholarly conversations in the Management discipline, as of January, 2017,

my articles have been cited 676 times in a variety of scholarly journals (h-index = 14 and i10-

The 5P’s Model which was created by Pryor, Toombs, and White is utilized by many leaders as

an integral part of the strategic management of their organizations. Cases are also evidence of

impact. For example, a case entitled “Transforming the Texas Plant” (Pryor, Humphreys &

Taneja) has been utilized in courses at a number of universities, including Louisiana State

University and Texas A&M University-Commerce.


As evidence of impact in the area of external professional Service, I have served, and continue to

serve, as a member of editorial boards and as a reviewer for a number of scholarly journals. For

TAMUC, I serve as faculty mentor as well as on a number of major University, College, and

Management Department committees. In 2017, I led the Quality Initiatives for which TAMUC

received a Texas Award for Performance Excellence (Engagement Level). In terms of impact in

the area of Teaching, I consistently receive outstanding student evaluations. In addition, I am

recognized internationally as an authority in the areas of Teaching and Research. Professors and

students from universities in various countries include me as an external member of theses and

doctoral committees. One such student thesis committee was for Nasser Poursaied who received

his graduate degree in Industrial Management from a university in Iran. I worked with this

committee for two years. Mr. Poursaied and I have also written papers for presentation at

conferences and articles which are published in scholarly journals. I have received a number of

excellence awards in Teaching, Research, and Service as well as other personal, TAMU and

2018 Martin Luther King Educator of the Year (MLK) Award sponsored by Hunt

County African American Leadership Conference. My husband, Dr. William D. (Don) Pryor,

and I also received 2018 MLK Lifetime Achievement Awards.

2016-2017 TAMU Regent Professor (A TAMU System honor for the duration of my

career with the TAMU System).

2016-2017 Leader, Quality Initiatives and Awards. TAMUC received the Engagement

Level of the Texas Award for Performance Excellence at the Quality Texas Conference in

June, 2017.

2017 Recognized by the Dean, TAMUC College of Business, as one of the first two COB

2002-present – Tenured Full Professor, Texas A&M University-Commerce.

1992-2002 – Taught for Texas A&M University-Commerce while I was an executive with

E-Systems/Raytheon (now L-3 Communications) and Campbell Soup.

1968-1985 – Taught for East Texas State University (tenured Full Professor), Stephen F.

Austin State University (tenured Full Professor), Delta State University, and the European

Division of Troy State University. In 1975 and 1976, I taught U.S. Air Force Officers in (and

we lived in) England, Germany, and Turkey.

1965-1968 – Taught for Northwest Jr. College, Senatobia, Mississippi. Courses taught from

1965 to present include: Strategic Management, Quality Management, Transforming

Organizations, Leadership, Managerial Skills, Managing Teams, Production and Operations

Management, Executive Development, Quantitative Methods, Business Research, Statistics,

Organizational Behavior, Personnel Management, Business Strategy, and Principles of


Management. I have taught classes over the Internet, via distance education video technology,

and in traditional classroom settings on site at the Commerce campus and off site at remote

University Administration

1979-1984 - Chairman, Management and Marketing Department and tenured Full Professor,

Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas. Responsible for the management of all

resources including faculty, budgets, etc. Numerous assignments as chairman and/or member of

various committees, teams, and cabinets with major responsibility, interacting with and/or

reporting directly to the president or vice president of the university. Examples are: President's

Cabinet, Long-Range Planning Team, Research Council, Faculty Senate, and Chairman's Forum.

Developed an Executive-in-Residence Program and acquired the first donation to be designated

to the Management and Marketing Department. CONOCO provided the first Executive-in-

Residence and the first donation.

Industry – Management

1/3/2000 – 7/31/2002 - Manager, Organizational Development and Training, Campbell

Soup Company, Paris, Texas. Responsible for implementing High Performance Work Teams

focused on improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost. Responsible for organizational

development, training, staffing, and process improvement activities. Wrote, acquired, and

administered State grants ($134,000 Smart Jobs Grant and $500,000 Skills Development

Grant) that were used to support cross training and operator certification, a new concept at

this union facility.

1/99 – Present - Co-owner, Golden Pryor Consulting and Training. Expertise includes:

6//92 – 12/98 - Director, Raytheon, Greenville. Served as Executive-in-Residence, responsible

for the design and operation of the Center for Excellence, a Texas A&M University-Commerce

and E-Systems (Raytheon) partnership which offered courses, workshops, seminars, applied

research and consulting, as well as benchmarking and networking opportunities. Missions

included: (1) To implement Continuous Process Improvement at TAMU-C and (2) To provide

workshops and consulting to other organizations in the improvement mode of operation. For

Mission One, I served as an internal consultant for the design and implementation of a

continuous improvement system at TAMU-C, worked with teams focusing on improving

processes and relationships and eliminating process constraints and non-value activities, and

assisted with strategic planning. For Mission Two, I achieved significant positive visibility for

the University and played a socially responsible role as I assisted K-12 schools, healthcare

institutions, factories, banks, and other organizations with process and relationship improvement.

I also assisted with Six Sigma and other continuous improvement efforts for the I2AIS Division

of Raytheon.


12/85 – 6/92 - Manager/Director, Quality and Operations. Responsible for the design,

implementation, and operation of the Continuous Improvement System at E-Systems, Greenville

Division (Raytheon, L-3). Responsible for significant savings through the involvement of (and

improvements in) areas such as Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, and Materiel, as well

as Quality, Hangar Operations, and Manufacturing. Baselines improved include safety, quality,

cycle time, and overtime, as well as the elimination of process constraints and non-value-added

activities. This enabled us to submit aggressively lower bids and win new programs in an era of

shrinking defense budgets and fierce competition. In addition, I was a consultant for process

improvement, people and organizational development, succession planning, change management,

statistical methods, and organizational restructuring. I was also responsible for interface with

military and non-military customers, suppliers, and sister Divisions. This included assistance

with the design and deployment of their improvement initiatives. Military customers included:

Andrews AFB, Tinker AFB, Wright Patterson AFB, DCMC Dallas and San Antonio, and Air

Force Intelligence Command.

Consulting and Workshops

1970 - Present – Executive Coach, Consultant and Workshop Leader. Topic areas include:

Process Improvement, Leadership, High Performance Teams, Change Management, Cycle Time

Management, Quality Management, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Interpersonal Skills,

major consulting effort was with E-Systems, Greenville Division's Technology Modernization

Selected TAMUC Accomplishments: (1) With Shanna Hoskison, designed and put the first

College of Business course (Mgt 591, 597) on the internet. (2) Teamed with Dr. Odom,

Marketing & Management, to offer the first Saturday College of Business classes at the Mesquite

Campus and to encourage College of Education people to enroll in Mgt 591, Quality

Management. (3) Teamed with the Head of the Industrial Engineering and Technology

Department to propose a Quality Management Degree. (4) At the request of the Vice President

of Academic Affairs (and as a member of the Leadership Team of E-Systems/Raytheon) wrote

the original proposal for an Engineering Degree and presented it to E-Systems and Texas A&M

University management. (5) Served as internal consultant in the areas of strategic planning and

process documentation and improvement for Texas A&M University-Commerce. (6) Developed

and delivered training sessions for Texas A&M University-Commerce faculty and staff as

follows: Leaders Team and Teams Lead; Excellence in Teaching; Fun at Work; Mentoring;

and Organizational Skills.

2014 - Completed two research seminars: (1) Dr. Milorad Novicevic, University of

Mississippi, and Dr. Foster Roberts, Southeast Missouri - Qualitative methods, archival

approaches, and conducting publishable historically-based studies in various Business
